I think we all want to be on Christian's XMas list!

What would be a good idea is for everyone here to produce a batch of the same homemade item...then have a get together and swap so for example: I'd swap homemade chocolate truffles to everyone attending & I'd receive for example ...a jar of homemade mincemeat, a bottle of raspberry liqueur, a knitted scarf......blah blah blah!

It would be so nice!

Yeah, please keep the Xmas ideas & makes coming! It's made me feel a right little Haus Frau (german for House wifey) today, making my damson gin.

I might even get in the spirit to make xmas cake this year!

On with my knitted mittens! :D

That's a great idea Emma. It happens on lots of other forums, we just need somebody to volunteer to organise it.

Normally in a swap like that, you send all the addresses to the one person and then they give them out randomly and you send to that one person like a secret santa.

Hiya - I've just found this idea in a book of mine. I think I'm going to have to make some. My sister loves hot chocolate - So I could ceramic paint a nice chickeny mug, stick a packet of luxury hot chocolate in it, a mini whisk from the pound shop, a packet of mini marshmallows and some of these spoons. Wrap it all up in cellophane & she will love it!

Special Spoons

Buy a package of plastic spoons, perferrably in festive colors. Dip them in chocolate (melted chocolate chips work well) and shake off the excess. Place them on wax paper and sprinkle with crushed peppermint candy. After they dry, wrap them in cellophane and tie with a ribbon. Put a few spoons in a coffee mug along with some individual hot cocoa or coffee packets and you have a great gift for those chilly nights!

Thanks Emma, you have just reminded me!!:wink:

I have normally done most of my Christmas shopping by October at the latest! I hate going out in all the crowds. I do normally go to a shopping centre the week before Christmas just to soak up the atmosphere though!

Thanks for all your comments! Its really nice of you all! :D

Emma,

Please tell me where you go shopping in Wolves, I live and work there and I think we have dreadful shopping facilities

We have no deli's, or even a greengrocers just the usual suspects Next, M & S, phone shops  et al

:(

I would love someone else's opinion of our city, I think I am just fed up of the same shops day after day :(

If QVC shopping channel can have Xmas in July - Us Omleteers can have Xmas in August!

In Wolverhampton - I loved Primark...a huge one! There was also a nice shop with unusual knick knacks in I liked - in one of the shopping centres - the wulfren one I think.

We also liked the Indian jewellery stall on the outside market.

There was an afro caribean hair products shop on the walk up from the station. That was good - loads of unusual hair products & oils.

We had coffee in Starbucks, lunch at the spud place.

We loved TK Maxx - spent hours in there. I loved the shop called Bank. We liked Beatties too. We don't have department stores in Crewe so we love going round the makeup & perfume & there are also handbags to die for. Bought a playboy handbag from BANK shop & loads of clothes from Primark! Oh and some jewellery accessories from a jewellery shop / unit.

Cool, that sounds like a great idea arranging a mini secret santa on the forum. Perhaps later on in the year we could put out a post in the nesting box for people who would want to take part. I'd be happy to organise it with some help from another person...

Say one person does half the list and I did the other half. That way I could organise the other volunteer's secret gift and they could organise who did mine-that way we both wouldn't know.

Anybody else want to help?
