Reasons to be grumpy 1,2,3 and 1 reason for cheerfulness

Recommended Posts

Apologies to the late Ian Drury.

1 The day didnt start well as our drive which goes onto a main road had some idiot a quarter of the way over the drive and would you believe there was space in front of him. I peeped my horn and he carried on yabbering on his phone , I did it again - nothing- so I got out, stomped over to his car and banged on his window (made him jump  ) and said asked him to move down. I have posted many times about this but they drive me mad. One day I will take an axe and smash their window and say " could you not park over my drive please" whilst they yak away into their mobile. OH is preparing for a time when I am inc"Ooops, word censored!"rated in Holloway

2 The paint I wanted for the kitchen - I had to go to 3 well known stores and yes it was the third one who had it. Sods law.

3 I forgot my glasses so had to get the assistant to read the labels for me - so a reason for cheerfulness - had a natter about the perils of getting older, knackered eyes, ears and back - but hey ho my kitchens half painted and I am now going to see if my naughty girlies have produced an egg and having a cuppa with OH so not all doom and gloom :D .

Well put Alisgirls, now I can't get Ian Dury out of my head. I do like that song. Reasons to be grumpy 1- this awful weather ,I have had to put the heating on. 2- O H may be going on gardening leave or part time.Part time would be nice,it is a big adjustment to make sharing all day even with OH .I just love my week days pottering about. 3-my wet garden which needs sorted,it makes me cross looking at the mess. Just moved in 6 months and needs lots of TLC. Cheerful ,my lovely home made quiche which I will pop in oven shortly and my nice glass of wine while it reheats.

Well I hope you enjoyed - no eggs so I did a homemade WW canelloni and salad. Where are you as the weather here has been nice not that i saw much up a ladder with paint pad. Oh my kitchen was grubby :shameonu: under the fridge freezer was a disgrace - i feel theres more to life than cleaning - I havent poisoned anyone yet cooking in the kitchen ( i dont cook on the floor) but I suspect for want of a better phrase am a slatten. Those two cleaning ladies on the telly would have me carted off for crimes against cleanliness.

I totally agree re cleaning when we moved and pulled out beds wardrobes well Aggie and what's her name would have had a field day. I am in N Ireland and it and has been about 12 degrees in other words freezing. I am prob closer to Redsunset, she must be even colder. Forecast is same for next 2 weeks if Acuweather is to be believed. Low temps and showers.

Sorry you had such a grim start to your day Alis girls but good to hear I'm not the only one whose house isn't pristine! Our house is always cleanest the day we move out. I may not be very house proud but I'd hate for someone else to see just how bad it can get

With apologies to those of you not feeling so cheerful today:

Reasons (for me) to be cheerful 1, 2, 3

1. I've very nearly finished my marking (I've been marking solidly for the last 2 weeks  )

2. Next week I can get back to working on the stuff I love

3. My garden shed got a new roof today and is looking fab :D

scuttles back to her desk to finish of the last of her marking for the year & tries not to look too smug

I should be grumpy today but I really can't be bothered. Next door will NOT stop putting s"Ooops, word censored!"s out for rats and even says hello to them. Consequently there is a nest next to our fence and they have wrecked the pond that DD made. We are dealing with it.

My reason for being cheerful is that I spent an idyllic couple of hours yesterday with DD rescuing pond creatures into temporary ponds we made. It was actually good fun and we rescued two fish, five newts, a frog, a mollusc and some beetles I don't know what they are. We had ice creams and fun in the sun.

It's very nice to sit and watch the creatures and I might make the patio ponds permanent. We're thinking of turning the pond area into a mini Death Valley.

Also tried out petanque this afternoon on our wobblylawn so that was odd but I think the chickens thought I was throwing an egg when I threw the jack and ran to investigate it. It was also hard to play with the chickens in the way. Another glorious memory though.

Proper reasons to be cheerful here, we have taken a few days off this week and have spent them sorting out a couple of cluttered areas and catching up with the garden and allotment. Also DS came home from uni for the summer just in time for the French Open tennis, he is my tennis watching buddy :D

Reasons to be cheerful, 420 lovely hens coming out of the colony unit tomorrow and on their way to happy retirements, will be a busy, dirty and physically exhausting day and I just love it :P

Awww, that's really nice :D

Reason to be grumpy for me, unreliable friend who has cancelled our going out for the umpteenth time.

Reasons to be cheerful 6 lovely chooks, some beautiful foxgloves, my first ever strawberry patch and being asked to do more hours at school after half term :D

Grumpy - got stopped in Tesco as the bleeper went off on exiting. Thought it was the clothing i got for YS but it was OH's packet of Gaviscon. Could I find the receipt - hell no - but was able to tell guard which cashier and what we'd talked about and had my clubcard so he was able to verify I wasnt nicking antacids to sell on black market. Meanwhile probably several proper shoplifters made off with goods whilst I was being questioned

Cheerful - nice relaxing day despite weather.

Grumpy 1 - woken up in the night because smoke alarm beeping intermittently. Woke husband up and he said "it's not much of a bother is it?" Yes it darned well woke me UP!! He sorted it.

Grumpy 2 - he came back and didn't close the bedroom door properly. Bump bump with the wind - I had to get up and close it so I could try and get back to sleep.

Grumpy 3 - it's raining.

Cheerful 1 - can't do anything else but practice on the sewing machine for quilting that cushion.

Cheerful 2 - the greenhouse is still dry.

Cheerful 3 - the girls didn't misbehave and wake me up this morning (just as well really)

Edited to add - I can't reach the smoke alarm.
