The Dogmother
I have just been told that Ocado and Morrisons use the same warehouse and delivery drivers; just different vans and uniform, the drivers have a different script for the two companies, and (not surprisingly) each customer group orders vastly different products. I had no idea that they shared facilities - did anyone else know this?
soapdragon
No....I have only used internet shopping a few times. Just to deliver to our Devon self catering and then for the day we get back home! Mind you, I suppose it makes sense to pool resources. chickencam
I knew that Morrisons did this, our nearest supermarket is Morrisons and they were late into the delivery market, when they were promoting their delivery service they said that it would be Ocado based. clucker1
Most interesting DM. I've been an Ocado customer for 11 years and love them. My last anniversary with them, apart from the free bottle of wine they gave me (one I regularly order, not plonk, so they had done their homework to see what I like) even the driver thanked me for shopping with them . Yep, me too don't like Morrisons.
sjp
I have just been told that Ocado and Morrisons use the same warehouse and delivery drivers; just different vans and uniform, the drivers have a different script for the two companies, and (not surprisingly) each customer group orders vastly different products. I had no idea that they shared facilities - did anyone else know this? Ocado do the deliveries for a couple of other supermarkets as well some from the warehouse some from in store and from what I understand from a couple of people I know in the industry it was the reason for them losing the Waitrose contract which is why they went after the Morrison's' one. As I understand it through they use different vans for Morrison's but there might be an overlap with drivers. but it's not unusual for one logistics company to work for more than one supermarket as there aren't that many that have the resources to do it, and most of the supermarkets have contract part or all of their logistic transport needs out to the big boys in the logistics game most hide the fact by having the contactor us the 'customers' logos
chooksRCute
Maybe I'm just daft but I also only discovered recently that Argos & Homebase are the same company! Before any big purchase, & even at sale times I price check on both websites, I had one occasion where the item was still cheaper at Argos despite a 25% reduction at Homebase
sjp
they've been owned by the same company for a fair few years now
chooksRCute
sjp....Well I did suggest I might be daft & you've just confirmed it!
sjp
no to be honest it's not openly 'advertised' I only know because a former work mates misses worked for Argos at the time homesbase was brought by the parent company who also own the UK brand rights to Qualcast
