theherd123
I have persuaded the OH we need a trip to Ikea (yes i have the headache tablets stockpile already!) to get some large glass bottles in which we can start our own raspberry vodka and sloe gin etc but i was wondering if there is anywhere special you all get you little bottles from into which you decant the alcohol before giving them as presents? Mrs Frugal
I use empty Dufrais vinegar bottles . They're a nice elegant shape and as I make lots of chutney, I get through a lot . I bought some nice clip topped bottles from Lakeland to use but I ended up keeping them for myself . I've got several of the Ikea bottles and they are fab and hold loads. The Dogmother
I start mine off in the kilner jars from IKEA, then decant it into either the big stoppered bottles that they do, or the lovely smaller ones that they sell in Abraxas Cookshop in Banbury. They do some pretty and decorative ones. For someone who doesn't drink, I love making brews for Phil and my other friends.
Cinnamon
I start mine in big 2L Kilners too - I get mine from Nisbets who do mail order. The finished product usually goes into the Lakeland stopper bottles, which are nice. Lat Christmas I got stuck for some nice little clear bottles (the Lakeland ones were too big),do I got some mini bottles of port from M&S, decanted to port into a big bottle ,removed the labels & used those. They looked great.....like mini wine bottles, & had a srcew on lid The extra port was handy too

I have persuaded my friend who I job share with that we need to go on an expedition to Ikea before the start of term. Not that she needed much persuading - so I will be stocked up with bottles and jars for all sorts of goodies I hope to have the time to make! Teh wasps have had a few, and those ended up for the choks to eat, but there are masses. Damsons are ripe now too if you have any of those. Charlottechicken
i was wondering if there is anywhere special you all get you little bottles from into which you decant the alcohol before giving them as presents? Emma, I save up plastic half litre pop bottles throughout the year, (but it's probably not a good idea to use plastic ) and it's difficult to collect them as I don't drink fizzy pop. However, I was given half a dozen glass one litre Schloer bottles earlier in the year from a party. The cordial I buy comes in green glass bottles so I can't use those, but I have some litre bottles saved from 'posh' pop so I have some plastic ones to make and freeze the elderberry cordial in, and for selling larger quantities of the liqueurs
