Cinnamon
We had our first experience with an Air B'n'B a month ago in France & it was brilliant The accommodation was spotless, perfectly positioned & exactly as advertised. In fact we would have stayed there again but they were full up, so we booked a different one for this weeks trip.....and WHAT a difference! Externally it was gorgeous - an ancient mill with water all around it, gurgling streams, wildflower meadows, a private BBQ area & lovely old stone walls. Inside however was, well, squalid is the word I would use! Damp to high heavens, clammy sheets, cat footprints on the duvet cover, toothpaste on the taps, a sticky lino floor & just generally very grubby. We decided we could not stay there, so packed our bags & left, much to the hosts horror It was all very embarrassing having to explain why we couldn't stay there................ Happily we managed to find a super little boutique hotel instead, and Air B'n'B have refunded us (less a £30 admin fee ) Has anyone else had experience, good or bad, or Air B'n'B? Lewis
I love AirBnB We've stayed in the all over the world - London, Wales, Slovakia (Kosice and Poprad), Austria and a few in Japan. Generally we've had really good experiences and have returned to several. They're great as you can choose to suit your budget and especially for skiing as we found ski-to-door and could stay up talking in the lounge without having to buy expensive drinks in hotel bars. Cinnamon
I think I was just very unlucky Everyone else I have spoken to has said that they have had brilliant experiences with it. Not sure if I want to risk trying again though.........
ubereglu
I've been tempted, but have yet to explore the options. Appears to be a good option for cheap holidays though!
Alis girls
Confess to having to google this I had visions of a B &B on a plane Looks interesting. Need to move with the times lady. Heres me thinking I was a modern old bat - just goes to show. The other thought was it was a new sort of muzac. Oh dear.
The Dogmother
I've heard nothing but good reports too, perhaps it was just an unlucky one.
soapdragon
Is this where you have to offer your home as well like a sort of swap for someone else (not nec the person that you are staying with or whose home you go to ?) Is the 'owner' there during your stay like B&B or is it more of a self catering thing? Sorry, I havn't heard of this and think I must be a bit behind the times !!!!!! Cinnamon
No, it isn't a home swap, its just a platform for people who are going away to view & book accommodation. Despite it being called Air B'n'B, you can book whole houses, flats etc without a B&B option, where you may never meet the owner. Our fist one was truly great, but the second one still makes my flesh crawl when I think about it! The eldest daughter has just come back from London where she stayed in one also, & she thought it was brilliant.
