soapdragon
Does anyone know of anywhere that sells steppers as in an actual SHOP? I really want to go and try a few out before buying as mine is making a really horrible squeaking noise and smells of burning rubber after my 25 mins dash so really needs replacing. It's a belt one rather than hydraulic....I did buy a cylinder one from Amazon a few months ago but it just chucked black oily dust all over the mat on 1st use so I sent it back. There are lots on Amazon but they all seem to have either poor or slightly dodgy reviews! I need something pretty robust - I am not overweight but do give the stepper a pounding for between 20 and 25 mins at a time. Not interested in those rubber band things for the upper body but I have seen ones with poles attached so prob close to a Nordic walking experience. It needs to be reasonably compact to fit in the spare room by the TV too. There must be retail outlets that sell them (not John Lewis - I've looked) but we are pretty 'rural' here. Edited April 24, 2018 by soapdragon Still can't spell. Grandmashazzie
Is decathlon near you. They have a mini one. Or any chance on your local gumtree. We have use an ap called next door which covers or village and very close areas. People post for local events, services on offer, there is girl who does gel nails at third price I was paying and also classified ads. Gym stuff fends to feature quite a lot, usually as freebies. You could check if one in your area or you could set one up.
soapdragon
Thanks; I'll google decathlon! I've been trawling Gumtree for a few weeks now but nothing suitable....several really cheap ones that are missing their electronic counter things which rings warning bells as that may mean they've been over used! I'll keep looking on there, though!
GrannyTrish
You could try Freecycle and eBay, and if you're on Facebook there are usually groups covering local areas that sell things. We have Facebay Forfar, Facebay Angus etc.
Cat tails
Mine comes from Decathlon. Is also a mini stepper one (pink!)
Lewis
Costco always seem to have stuff like that out on display but they might be seasonal.
Patricia W
Decathlon is in Oxford, Soapdragon. There's a Sports Direct on the same site too. Don't know if they have them too but I guess they might. It's just off the A34 at the Botley Rd turn. Turn right at the lights, then right again into a little shopping centre.
soapdragon
Thanks for all the help, people! Sorry I had meant to post that I did go to Decathlon on Saturday (never normally out in that direction but it was OH birthday so we took the Seacourt P and R in to the centre and had a Franco Manca pizza and a good wander.) I managed to get the last one in the store so was very pleased. It's tougher than my old one so I feel I'm getting a good work out. However, I am going to do my village circuit this morning as it's such a glorious day. Had a heated discussion with OH regarding taking the stepper on hols at half term; I think it will fit under the back seat but OH say's I'm getting obsessive
Grandmashazzie
Glad you got sorted. It’s lovely here too and I am just back from circuits. Just our warm up was outside, running around car park at 7.15,it was lovely in the sunshine with the birdsong in the background. Take your stepper on holiday, then you won’t feel guilty about the wine and chocolate.
Patricia W
Interesting you mention a Franco Manco pizza! I'd never heard of them but wandered in yesterday with a friend for lunch as we were on our way to the Ashmolean ( lovely place to visit, but not the best place to eat, unless it's a cream tea with Prosecco on the roof!) I don't normally like pizza all that much, but it was very good. Great service. I must be stalking you, Soapdragon!
soapdragon
We went to Franco Manca after a morning's shopping and before heading off to....The Ashmolean How exciting; I've never had a stalker before Seriously, glad you liked FM; OH went to one in Southampton and raved about it. I liked the fact that they had no brands (Coke etc) and all drinks came in a plain bottles. It was really good value and very quick; would definately go back (although we did muchly like the look of the noodly Thai place in the Covered Market - smelt WONDERFUL!) Patricia W
Next time you go, I highly recommend Pierre Victoire in Little Clarendon. Privately owned French restaurant. Two courses under £12 at lunchtime. Good children’s menu too.
