The Dogmother
Has anyone seen these? http://www.theindiashop.co.uk/acatalog/Newspaper_Bags.html I got my own earlier this week, when I went shopping and am going to de-construct it and make my own for present bags. I feel a Blue Peter moment coming on... Here's the one I got: Now... newspapers, cereal packet, glue, raffia.....
craftyhunnypie
I've got a doy bag made from recycled drinks cartons, but I'm liking this idea a lot! I'm a bit worried about what would happen in a shower of rain tho. Soggy newspaper? Perhaps I could sew together capri sun cartons, then turn those into a bag? (goes off to scrounge drinks cartons from innocent kids lunch boxes) Emma.x
The Dogmother
I've seen the drinks carton bags Emma, they're bright and Rosie loves them. These newspaper ones aren't very durable, but they are double layered and strong enough for putting presents in. I can see Rosie wanting to decorate them with glitter and silver spray On the other hand, they're so cheap, it'd be rude not to buy them from the site. lost-sheep
i tried to make a crisp bag... bag but it didn't work the needle just ripped the foil are the drinks cartons stronger... i might use newspaper too... when you work out how it's done.... i really need to be able to accomplish something other than forums during my life time ... ... or maybe not
ubereglu
They look really easy to make. I think that for the Big Green Gathering and the 'It's not easy being green' forum got together and made them from shaping them around books to put the things people bought from their stall off them. craftyhunnypie
I want to have a go at making a felted bag too. All you do is put a woolly pulli on a very hot wash in the washing machine & it matts & felts. You then treat it like fabric & cut out your pieces to sew together & maybe a felt flower to go on it. I have just got to give it a go! I've made bags from jeans years & years ago. I still want to make one of those clear PVC bags with loads of pockets in - so that I can slot in some artwork & change it when I like. They are ever so expensive to buy in the shops! Egluntyne
Will it stand up to damp weather? I like the look of it.
