I went to put the chooks to bed and a few were out, including my 3 ex-batts who I adore but i'd left the door open and they like to perch on there...nothing amazing about that but Marjorie, an ex-batt, has been eyeing up the door and taken tentative steps to fly onto it (when she's in the house it's about 2ft higher) but has never had the courage. Tonight she flew straight on to it and a minute or so later started walking up and down the open door that I had my hand on, to make it steady. I was stroking her and telling her that she was doing well and she walked up to me, climbed on to my hand, broke an egg that I was holding, and looked at me as if to say 'I want to get down now' !! I lowered her down and she looked at me and i'm sure that if she could have spoken she would have said 'Thank you Mummy, I just wanted you to be proud of me'.
