feemcg
Day 20 today and I got up and checked the eggs - none had pipped yet. Half an hour later I was sitting at the computer in the dining room when I heard a very loud cheeping coming from the utility room, so I dived through to look and still none have pipped - but there's a very noisy little chick inside one . I heard it over the noise of the tv and 2 rooms away .

feemcg
Theres 11 Cream Legbar and 5 Rhode Island Red x Light Sussex (Gingernut Ranger). The Cream Legbars are auto-sexing so can tell girls and boys at hatch (usually ), and the RIR crosses are sex-linked, so again should be able to sex at hatch

feemcg
(Almost) final tally is...7 girls and 7 boys - well it is a 50/50 chance! I say almost as there are 2 eggs still in the (very empty looking) incy. I listened to them earlier and no noise, but I would always leave then another day or so anyway. Listened to them again just now after putting the last of the fluffies in the brooder and one is cheeping and tapping....so maybe I'll wake up to one more (boy ). The Dogmother
I do so love the fluffy stage; when Rosie and I were in Norfolk last week, we went with Dilly to a farm where they were hatching - we had handfuls of small, fluffy chickies Almost as lovely as human babies
