The Dogmother
Aww, don't worry... I got rid of some very expensive stuff I used a few years ago when at uni, but oh well! New materials for a fresh, positive start! By the way - I've posted some new drawings of your girls on my website ( www.fresh-as-a-daisy.com) I hope I've done them justice... Thanks for everything x Those are beautiful Milly, especially as Ruby and Layla have now died - that is my favourite picture of them leading a raid on my herb garden! Please PM me if you are thinking of selling the originals - I might be interested.
millymeerkat
Thank you Louise. I don't normally use pencils as a medium other than for practice before a proper painting. So I am amazed at the feedback just from the drawings! I am primarily a painter (oils and acrylics) but I am currently bed/bedroom bound as I had both my knees operated on last Saturday, so I am limited to what materials I can use at the moment! Oil paints don't come out of bed linen!!! I have a room here at home that I was gradually turning into a sort of 'studio' if you like, with all my art stuff. I can't wait to get back in there once I am better! Give it a week or two and I'll be well enough to get up and into my room and then get on with some painting as well as drawing. Thanks for your photographic donations!

Snowy
Wow Milly, I love the pictures of Clare's chickens, especially the one of Lavinia! Wonderful detail.
millymeerkat
Sorry Clare, your message must've come through whilst I was replying to Louise! I am so sorry to hear that Ruby and Layla are no longer with you. That's the photograph that I was so excited about that I had to stay up late and draw it. I love the fact that only someone who owns and loves chickens would laugh at the cheekiness of the hens and let them get away with such trouble! It was a natural photograph and I guessed it meant something to you as I myself have pics that just 'sum up' the characters of my girls. I am honoured to have been able to draw them. Thank you xxx

Thank you xxx They were both cheeky little monsters in their day! I saw them out of the kitchen window and rushed to get my camera and took the photo round the back door so they couldn't see me. The herb garden is now off limits! We have now replaced both of them, but their replacements are quite different in personality. Lavinia and Layal were/are both pekins.... cheeky, bossy little s"Ooops, word censored!"s You're very talented.
millymeerkat
Thank you Lovemychooks! I'll try to remember to PM you once drawings are on the site (as I will try to remember to contact all of you who've been kind enough to help me) It's funny - when I first got my girls, although I'd grown up with family members having chickens, ducks, geese etc, I never imagined that I would love them as much as I do! I can't believe what we let them get away with! My hubby and I got hens as it's not the right time in our lives for children, but wanted to extend the family. Sometimes I wonder if it would've been easier to have kids as the chooks can cause so much mischief!!! But when you see their little beady eyes looking at you as if to say "it wasn't me who wrecked your flower bed" you can't help but chuckle! I love the personal stories behind the photo's. Thanks for sharing them with me. xxx

The Bantam of the Opera
you are extremely talented milly, well done. i especially love lavinas feathers, she looks like a little cloud. im excited about seeing my chickies painted I have this other pic of my chicken mrs. weasley, it captures her true spirit, independent single woman. she doesnt let anyone boss her around even though shes missing most of her feathers. i doubt you want to paint a chicken look quite so scary but thought you might like to see it cause it makes me laugh evertime i see it and hope it cheers you up. keep up the good work! millymeerkat
Good Morning Bantam of the Opera! I thought you might like to know that I had a go at drawing your little Mrs Weasley today. For me, the photograph would be better painted due to all the different feather/no feather textures, but I had a go in pencil anyways. I think she's so cheeky that I'll definately have another go in paint, when I get round to getting some. The drawing is on my website under the page 'art'. Hope it makes you smile, Milly

millymeerkat
Thanks Kate. I've never drawn a chook front on and it's hard to get all the features to look right. I am looking forward to having a go in paint! I hope 'BOTO' likes it!
