Innocent hats

Recommended Posts

Oh my! I would like to buy one but I bet they go quick!

Also I wouldn't be allowed to drink it - even their lovely water (which is no longer called innocent) is banned on my diet!

Hello. We’re asking lots of people to knit lots of little hats for our smoothie bottles. These behatted bottles will then go into Sainsbury’s in November and for every one sold innocent and Sainsbury’s will give 50p to Age Concern.

Why you ask? Well it’s simple. Almost 25,000 older people died of cold related illnesses last winter, so it’s important for us to do our bit. Age Concern will use the money raised to provide support to older people in winter including hot meals, blankets and advice on how to keep their houses warm.

In 2006 we managed to raise £115,000 by knitting 230,000 hats. This year we are dreaming about what £200,000 could do. We’d also quite like to pile up 400,000 hats to see what it looks like.

I love the hats, in our old office we collected them from EAT. And had them on everything, disturning i know, milk, ketchup, salad dressing

Oooo Claret, the hat that is hat of the week, I have that wool with the bobbles and black fringey stuff - It's called Mermaid & I knit a scarf with it last year...hmm wonder where I put that scarf? :? If I find it, I might put it on here, as I have never worn it & do a silent auction for BHWT. I'm planning on a few knitted auctions for The BHWT. Every little helps!

Couperwife & Myself are knitting teeny weeny jumpers for Breast Cancer at the moment! Number one of mine is finished - will post the photo of it on here tomorrow! :D

It is - I'm fascinated by unusual wools - so I remeber buying 5 balls of it! It's sort of like that hairy wool you can buy, but long 'hairs' and then has turquoise & blue bobbles in it - was wonderful to knit with & I thought when I was knitting it - Ooo I like that!

I had started knitting a bag from Wensleydale wool, which you then felt in the washing machine. Knitted about 12 rows, checked on pattern & realised that erm I should have been using circular needles. Oh dear, another project unravelled, much to hubbys amusement.

So started knitting another mini jumper!

Ohhhh. I wish I could knit and produce such fab' items ! I did learn a bit as a teen and managed a very mis-shaped scarf using garter stitch but purl always defeated me. :?

Unfortunately, it seems it is a dying art (like darning socks). I don't know anyone (alive) who could teach me how to do it properly - knit that it - not darn socks.

I can knit AmandaR! Perhaps we should bring knitting to the next Omlet get-together?!

The innocent hats are so easy, I'm sure anyone could make a good job of them. You can knit the whole hat if you wish and not bother with the purl.

Hi Bronze - yes it would make more sense, but clothes would take to long to make and Age concern wouldn't get as many then, as people would only churn out a few items & how to you share a few items btween hundreds of old people? People like novelties and would think nothing of paying 50p for a cute hat. 50p's soon mount up too. I know as I save them!
