Chookchat
Hello everyone, I don't often post on here or any where to be honest but I need some advice. I have three elderly bantams, one is 12 and the other two are about 8. None have laid this year but I had a few last year. I have noticed that they are not eating as well as they have done,is this due to them not using energy in making eggs and should I change them on to a different type of food other than layers? Thank you for your help
Beantree
You could give them rearers pellets instead, but changes in feed can cause stress and perhaps best just to keep them on what they know.
soapdragon
I would suspect that their nutritional requirements have decreased as they are not laying. As long as they look healthy and you are doing the usual health checks on them probably best not to change their food. Maybe give a few more treats? Lewis
They'll be fine on layers pellets. As you say, as they slow down and stop laying they eat a lot less so I wouldn't worry too much
