Trisha
Hi everyone, the guy ropes on our Omlet fencing were chewed through on the first night! We think it must be a fox or our 2 cats. Have tried replacing with plastic coated steel core washing line, garden twine covered in chilli powder and Vaseline covered string. All chewed! Has anyone else had this problem, and did you find a solution? Thanks, Trish

If you have a frequent visiting fox, a electric fence would probably be your best bet.

mullethunter
That’s weird. Only the guy ropes chewed and not the fence?
Trisha
No, fence not touched, which made me think it was the cats, they have chewed 2 iPad wires! I’m trying nylon twine with extra hot chilli and Vaseline now. Omlet suggested more poles instead of ropes.
mullethunter
My cats chew charging cables too 🙄 I’d say Omlet’s suggestion is a good one and as it’s only been the guy strings I’d be inclined to agree that it’s probably not a fox. Wouldn’t be sure though.
Beantree
In my experience rabbits and rats will chew through polypropylene cord. Mice can't manage it; I sealed holes in our previous house walls with filler mixed with chopped cord.
