Lesley
I hate making and receiving calls as well - I try to make Carl make calls but he's just as bad sometimes Whenever I have to do any Credit Control, it is always by letter - if I'm told to ring someone who has not paid after the first letter, I send the 'threatening legal action' letter instead and pretend I didn't hear
chocchick
I'm quite bad at this. I have been told I have social anxiety, and on phones and certain situations (i.e. interviews) I just can't speak sometimes and struggle to find words or communicate confidently. I'm effectively a receptionist at the moment It does help as the more I'm forced to do it the easier it gets.
One Man Banned
I'm fine with making phone calls (most of you know I never shut up) but I'm with Clare on this one I far prefer to ring someone in reply to a text as it's quicker than me trying to type A xx
Jules.
I just got hubby to phone the guy we won the compost bin off on freecycle i have just organised a theatre company visit for church, the actual arranging has been going on for some months now. We are having the performance in a local high school, using their theatre. I was a total wreck when I cold-called the school asking them could we use the school & possibly have the performance during the day as well for the pupils. I have since been in email correspondence arranging stuff with the school, but phone them a couple of days after i email so they have had a chance to get the answers to my questions. When I was pregnant with Ethan I was having a real stonker with the HA about having the baby checks after the birth- I was told there was no one to come to my home to do the checks. The whole point of my homebirth was to avoid hospital. I sent 3 recorded delivery letters that day to various bigwigs & felt my blood pressure rise. The next day I had a call from the head of midwifery sorting eveything out for me... if only I had called her the day before I would have been saved from a night of worry. From then on I resolved to try & get things sorted out by phone, as things happen much faster that way (ie emailing Omlet!!!) I still dislike the phone, I will never love it. The Dogmother
Glad to hear that the new job is helping out Choccy. I find that the phone is often easier than talking face to face; I spend a large part of the day on the phone. I hate texting
