Guest
mmmm. . . Jan 12th. That seems about right for new year resolutions! Just thought I'd renew this and see if I can spur people back into action. Maybe everyone's doing brilliantly and doesn't need to post anything here? Maybe everyone's far too busy preparing healthy meals and running a fitness campaign? But I'm not and I'm ready to feel truly ashamed

Guest
Well done Nicola. 5lbs is good in a month and men always lose weight more quickly than women! Not fair Glad you're still smiling!
Nicola H
That makes me feel better Ginette thanks.........Hubby has given up drinking lager so I expected him to lose more, I like chocolate too much thats my problem........... I have started knitting at night while I watch T.V. to keep my hands busy.................
Swiss Chick
Nicola, I have to agree with Ginette. 5 pounds is pretty good in a month. And it is better to loose it slowely and steadily instead of quickly and then you pile the pounds back on when you eat some sweats. I have lost 6 pounds in 10 days with a low carb diet. I am on my 17 day now and are also a bit frustated since my plans says I should have lost more. But I just needed my chocolate boost for my you know what days. My hubby lost 34 pounds last year in 2 months. Not fair really since he should have gone on a diet for years but he was quite ill so he lost them "for free" no willpower needed and he still doesn't relly know how to eat food that is good for him. We will be all experts when we are finished loosing our love handles. I need to loose some 6 pounds more but they have been around for some years so I just have to be patient and continue... Lesley
.....and me - it will be 6 stone if I don't do something soon I was all ready to start and then everything happened with buying the farm so it all went out of the window and I've been eating chocolate
Popcorn
I can't believe i've found this conversation, I wished I'd not seen it I've definatly put on weight being pregnant over christmas. I'm dreading the aftermath of my binges - it's still like christmas eveyday here. Generally I only have to look at chocolate to pile on the pounds, and I've eaten two bars today It's going to be a sack and a piece of string for me when baby arrives. Guest
Oh yes Swiss Chick. I was not fat and forty! I lost 49 lbs that year (birthday in September) but embarrassingly I have put it all back on since then. I've gone far too far and no longer look nice in anything! I must do something before the warmer weather comes. AND - March 17th is my son's birthday, which I chose because it was also my Gran's birthday. A special day indeed - and St Patrick too! Gina - I always put on weight when pregnant and found it very hard to lose afterwards even with the breastfeeding. It really is worth trying to eat a healthy diet and limiting severely the chocolate, biscuits etc. Better for you, better for the baby. Easier said than done I know all too well but you might be better at it than I was!
Lesley
March 17th seems very popular - it's my son's birthday as well! I'm sure you will manage your 6lbs by then Sonja. I wasn't fat at forty either - but my knee injury ensured I was fat and fifty
The Dogmother
Like Sonja, I am small, so every extra pound shows. Mine is just a case of getting fit again, bit I don't really feel like it with the dark winter nights I stuck to a healthy diet while pregnant, and mostly just added baby weight. I was told that so long as you eat a balanced diet (hopefully Kate A will confirm this) that you're baby will be well nourished and won't lack in nutrients; it is essential to keep up protein levels though, especially when breastfeeding. kazaddress
Hiya guys. thought this might help some of you! I do weigh"Ooops, word censored!"chers "no count" diet. where you can eat as much meat, fish, fruit, vegetables, beans, pulses, fat free yogurts, skimmed milk, eggs, rice, and pasta etc as you like.. but it must only be in your 3 meals... any other time only fruit is allowed as snacks! I have lost around 3 stone (40lbs) on WW.. and have maintained my current weight for 18months. I now email out my weekly meal plans to around 100 people every week, so thought you might be interested! >> Eating the GI foods worked a treat! I have been having a bowl of vegetable, bean and lentil soup every day for lunch and just before my evening meal (as a starter), and I have been feeling much fuller and have not needed to snack! The recipe was basically all my left over veg (carrot, parsnip, potato, onion, leek) with a handful each of dried (red lentils, poi lentils, black eye beans, haricot beans, butter beans, chickpeas, vegetable bullion) some mixed herbs.. and it made about 10 portions of soup! The www.theorganicfarmersmarket.co.uk Delivery Has arrived. I’m not quite sure if I’m happy this it or not. The produce in the fruit and veg box looks large clean and healthy.. but its does not feel like very much (for the £2 extra more then www.riverford.co.uk), This is what I got for my £14.50 3 large onions, l3 leaks, 1 bag potatoes, 1 suede, 1 bag carrots, 1 bag kale, 1 bag mixed salad leaves, 1 lemon, 3 bananas, 2 oranges, 2 apples. Hmm. Well the honey smoked bacon looks lovely as does the 2 pies (1 gluten free and 1 normal), The hummus and pesto is in jars which is Disappointing, as i was hoping it would be fresh not long life! They delivered the wrong pesto (I requested coriander and walnut). They also delivered the wrong milk too. 3 litres of semi-skimmed rather then skimmed (which wont be much use to me on no count). I also bought a gluten free cake, a flap jack and a bottle of strawberry lemonade as a treat for my birthday. Total cost for this weeks shop was £35.01 (not bad for the 2 of us!) Next week it’s the http://www.organically-speaking.com delivery. I will let you know how it goes! Anyway back to recipes. I am in work next week, so Sunday I am making another large pot of been and lentil soup, to keep me going during the day (I will take it in a flask). Have a fantastic week, hope you all have great losses. Kaz x Ps. As normal the meals always take under 30mins, you can look for the recipes up on www.the-billingtons.co.uk/meals.asp, hope this helps. Mel (& Paul)
I'd really rather not know about the measurements of my arms, bum, thighs and wobbly tummy. Why is it that however much weight I put on it never affects my chest I am a real pear shape (nothing at the top.....) Each week I start with really good intentions, by Monday night I have failed miserably
Cate in NZ
It's not the way to do it, and absolutley not recommended, but I've been ill this last week with a dreadful, feverish cold, and I had simply no appetite, resorted to force-feeding myself home-made veggie soup out of a panful that I made mid-week since there was no way that I could afford to take off work to recover, or stop running around after the children. Anyway, I got on the scales this morning and I've lost 1/2 a stone- in less than a week I'm still not right, so am having a lazy day today to try and get healthy again for next week (although the pressure's off at work next week, thank goodness), still no real appetite. I just bet that 1/2 stone goes straight back on though when the appetite comes back
Nicola H
Hope you feel better soon Kate...............It almost makes you feel it was worth while being ill if you lose half a stone, now you just have to work at keeping it off.
