It was there all the time.

Yes, thanks. Got it now.

Looking at what we've got hanging around, the Boss is knitting a rather nice sleeveless green thing at the moment and will have wool left over. I thought I might use that as it won't show the tea stains as much as white! Maybe mix it with some brown to represent the grass and bark in the run and garden (v. artistic - not).

It must be pretty thick being double knitting, doubled up!

I've got some nice jacob wool that her indoors spun ages ago, which will look like my Maran, and some other flecked, handspun stuff - might use that for the hens.

thanks again for your help,

We're waiting Richard.....

Ah, well, got a gansey (and we won't go into all that again) to finish first! Have to see what I can do - make some time!

Now there's a thought - knit some time. Very third policeman like. Flann O'Brien would be pleased with me.

I can't pretend to understand this last sentence Richard.:lol:

Am off to "Google" Flann O'Brien.

Flann O'Brien, pseudonym of Brian O'Nolan. Wrote a column for the Irish Times and some fantastic novels, the best of which by far is 'The Third Policeman'. If you haven't read it, please please do.

Other novels of his are 'the poor mouth', the dalkey Archive' and 'At Swim two birds', but the third policeman is far far the best imo.

I've printed off the pattern :D and will get some wool tomorrow :D I've been itching to do some knitting this week and didn't know what to make.

done one side and will get the other finished tomorrow (going out tonight). Then can start on the birds. Using wool I've scrounged, and have asked her indoors to spin me a bit of white (for a hen body), double knitting thickness! Shes got some Portland fleeces sitting in her den so it should be OK!

Tea cozy part finished :D

I will make a start on the hens later.

Looking at the shape of the cozy I reckon it would make a nice chicken beanie hat  the cozy fits my head

you're ahead of me - its sunday tea time and I've got the cozy and the hens bodies, but not put it together yet. Photo by tonight I hope!

YES - finished.

Bits of wool I had around (some tweed stuff for the cozy) and some quickly spun white fleece for the white hens.

No felt, so beaks are some black fleece sewn on.

Are meant to be my three Orps - two splashed and a blue! The blue is far too blue, but I didn't have any better coloured wool

Oh, well - at least it will keep the tea warm!
