Lesley
The bottom line is, it's supposed to be a time-saver. How can anything to do with a blog be a time saver? This forum takes so much time now to keep up with that I'd never find time to even start a blog Edited January 18, 2006 by Guest
Omlet Staff james Posted January 18, 2006 Author Omlet Staff Share Posted January 18, 2006 Yep, you can collect it just like your email. It arrives from lots of locations for you to read. James
Guest
p.s. grd did you get my belated email? Hi James, Sorry for the delay - I was thinking through a few things.... have now replied.
Cinnamon
The bottom line is, it's supposed to be a time-saver. In an RSS reader application you can subscribe to RSS feeds from various web sites. The RSS Reader pulls that information in and displays it without you having to visit all the various web sites. So if I was subscribed to 10 RSS feeds from various places, I could just open my RSS Reader and view them all within that one place. Clearer? Can I ask a quick question of one of you clever folk out there? This RSS feeder thing - do you have to have Broadband for it to work properly/well? Ca't get broadband where I am (my house is 3m too far from the exchange )
Guest
Hi Sarah, No need for broadband - it will work fine over dial-up/ISDN, albeit rather slower. But it doesn't usually take huge amounts of bandwidth.
Popcorn
does it take long to get a reply once you have requested a blog form the site?> I just wondered if I had entered my details correctly, or if I had fluffed it up
Mel (& Paul)
It shouldnt take too long. I signed up v early one morning, and had an e-mail from James later that day
Guest
more feedback on the blog... I looked at Mel & Paul's - the omlet contact banner at the bottom (presumably part of the template) has.. "if you would like to keep chicknes or rabbits then visit www.omlet.co.uk for more information" a small point - but gives an unprofessional feel.. Mel (& Paul)
I didnt spot that - it is part of the template I think
Omlet Staff james Posted January 19, 2006 Author Omlet Staff Share Posted January 19, 2006 Good spot - we are going to correct this spelling mistake. The Dogmother
Phil, I mentioned that a while ago, so I think they are working on it.

The Dogmother
Clare - The interface is rather basic but does seem to work reliably. I have offered my help to the developers and they are working on new back end. James That's great James - I am a tad frustrated with it at the moment, but will re-visit in a few days. Will they be addressing some of those issues and how long would it take? I have just had a look at Gina's personal (baby) blog which is on blogger. That's just the sort of thing that I was envisaging. But I'd much rather be on an Omlet blog (of course). *where's the grovelling emoticon?* I'd like to be able to post links that stay on the top of each section, and for the webcam (when it comes) to be linked at the top too. Gina's has a panel down the side with an intro and links bit - that's just great. Sorry to sound like I am nagging - but I am sooo excited about this and want to add more to the blog, but it won't do what I want yet, so I'd prefer to wait until it does. Cate in NZ
Ooooh, this all looks incredibly confusing, I've just had a couple of forum free days, finally got a little time for a proper forum catch up, but reading these postings is sending me dizzy. I am a bit of a technophobe at the best of times, and reading all of your problems and comments has me wondering what on earth you're all talking about Don't worry about attempting another explanation thanks grd, I'm sure you're completely willing and quite obviously know you're stuff, but this normally fairly intelligent brunette is now about to go and have some blonde highlights put in Good luck with your bloggings all
Cinnamon
Well, I have my page (The Ashley Family), but I am not going to start Blogging until the bumps have been ironed out Not much to say yet anyway, as "The Mighty chicken Pen" is still in planning stage, & The Hubby is having a lazy moment
Guest
It will all turn out right in the end. Don't worry, and you won't have to be technical or antyhing, it will be just like typing a post on here. You will just have to log in to get into your personal blog to type things. The reason for that is - because it is personal to you - that's all.
The Dogmother
James, is there a way to change the order that the sections appear in? I want to have them appear in a certain order and there doesn't seem to be a way to do this Ta muchly I will bring cake next time I visit
Cinnamon
Right, I have taken the plunge & written something, although I am not sure how interesting it is I will attempt a photo later May I ask a question. From the homepage there is a lik to list all blogs. They seem to be in alphabetical order, but I cannot see a way to get past the first few. Probably me just being thick - or not looking in the right place

Mrs Frugal
I bet poor James is tearing his hair out at the moment. Give him a while to sort it out. You expect the odd gremlin with something new (well, I do anyway from past experience!) but I'm sure he'll get things running smoothly soon. The Dogmother
Poor James, such lovely curly hair too! I am sure that they will sort it out soon, perhaps it might have been better to wait until the wrinkles were ironed out before going live. I think it's a great idea and i can't wait to get it going. I have always wanted a blog and this is the incentive i needed. I would prefer to belong to the Omlet community if possible though. grd - can you help with blogs - what do you think is it fixable?
