Guest
Waitrose have Peter Lehmann Clancy's Red @ £4.99 a bottle (£2 off) (a big promotion). It's wonderful stuff, Australian, full bodied, 14% alcohol (hic), tonnes of vanilla. I think it's a great buy. Just in case anyone is interested and likes a good red.... Cinnamon
Thanks - I will look out for that one. I bought a case of Tescos Finest Howcroft Estate Merlot today (yes ******* Merlot!) & it is divine. Reduced from £8 to £4 a bottle - not bad , & you get another 10% off if you buy 6 bottles or more Happy days

Sheilaz
Good topic title, Grd, just makes one want to look. Surprised SarahJo isn't here already too I just don't like the idea of buying red wine from across the world (food miles & all that) when European wines are so good. Maybe when I've drunk Italy & France dry (in that order) I'll try some. Oh, and I'm planning to sample all English wines too, really, some can be excellent. Just jealous really, I love red wine but it has a funny effect on me, even one sip. Hope I grow out of that reaction, I miss Fleurie, Chianti......etc Perhaps I should start a white wine topic, as that doesn't make me ill. (Just giggle a lot ) Oh well, I can enjoy reading about red wine. Cheers, it sounds lovely, Graham. And Sarah, drop of Merlot....Beaujolies, Bordeaux.....mmmmm
Lesley
Italy and France Sheila? - what's wrong with starting in England? Some very good wines now - so I'm told anyway Even less food miles
Guest
So I've put my foot in it again - this time it's 'food miles'.

Grd, I wasn't whining honestly, just thought I'd mention it! Every time I open my mouth I put my foot in it...
buffie
Hey all feet firmly out of mouths this is a very good topic and we need to keep this up to date with offers. I'm off to do a shop tomorrow so I'll let you know what I see and thanks Sarah for the tesco bargain! I always worry about the alc vol, I'm merrily drinking the wine and I nearly fell off my chair when Mikey said he'd put a 15% back on the shelf. I'd be running up the road in god knows what if I drank 15% BBx
Lesley
Sorry Sheila - speed reading again - it was late I'll bring you a bottle of Staffordshire's best when we come to see you It was just any chance to have a go at grd really - normally I'd tell Carl and he'd also be rushing out to stock up but he stopped for three months last October and since Christmas just has one bottle a week

SarahJo
Sheila ... I couldn't post yesterday, as I was a tad worse for wear. Graham cooked on Sunday night .... as I don't get much of a birthday sharing with Ben . Anyway ... 3 bottles of red later . Needless to say Graham did the school run in the morning .. and I took my time getting up. I did not feel , just a bit fuzzy . We drank ... Chateauneuf Du Pape Reserve ( pre-christmas Tesco offer ) usually £14 a bottle. Then something else ... M&S gold label Cabernet Sauv. and then a McGuigan Estate, Shiraz. All were very nice, and good quality, else I would have been .
