Laura & CTB
I'm planning on a mini feast for my girls with a little of everything they love beautifully presented on a huge plate and yes I am decorating the run with solar fairy lights and they will probably have a christmas tree on top of the eglu (the eglu is on a table so they wont be able to eat the tree) so lets all be mad together

xChicken04x
Ours are getting a little Christmas dinner, of sprouts (I'm not cleaning the poo trays the next day) roast spuds (with out the pepper and oil) yorkshire puddings (will have to check what is in the ingredients first) peas, and of course we will pick up a little present for them. xx

BeckyBoo
Shall we run a competition, see who has the most festive Eglu or chicken run? I might make ours a little Christmas cake without the icing, and I expect they'll get all the veggies and stuff taken down by a load of excited children! Wonder if the eggs will come out festive?! Leicester_H
Shall we run a competition, see who has the most festive Eglu or chicken run? What an egg-cellent idea. Could we have a temporary sticky please "Christmas 2007" where we ONLY post competition entries. What categories shall we have (not too many) 1. Best decorated house and/or run 2. Best Christmas Dinner 3. Best (festively) dressed Chicken ???? 4. First egg laid on Chrismas day
xChicken04x
and of course we will pick up a little present for them.xx Doh - How nice. What sort of present? Can you post on here or migh they get to hear and spoil the surprise ?? H I dont think the chooks will hear (unless they have stolen the laptop and they are all reading the forum in the nesting box.) I dont have a specific idea, maybe another dustbath for them, because the other one is too small for 8 chickens! Or we where thinking of putting a log pile in the run, then on Christmas morning moving the logs to see whats underneith (if there isnt anything there we will just put some meal worms down.) Or some bags of mixed salad, wrapped up in nice paper (am I taking it too far now?) Or we could grow a trough of cress for them. On Christmas eve we will clean the cube out (so its nice and clean for Father Chookmas.) And we will put a little tree out side the run for them. I will add more ideas if I think of any. xx

BERTIE MCSQUIRTY
how about wrapping your presents in cabbage leaves, and hang them from the roof of the run, it will keep them occupied for hours pecking the present and little bits of corn, raisins, grapes etc keep dropping out. Happybunny
We were thinking about letting our cockeral come in and watch T.V. He used to sit on our shoulders and watch when he was smaller and he's always trying to sneak back in. I really like the idea of a festive eglu competition but in could get out of control - when you think what some peoples houses end up looking like at this time of year! Snowy
These are great ideas - Moderators!!! Can we have a christmas photo competition please? As per the previous categories? Leicester_H
Hi Snowy Could we extend the comp. deadline please - say till end Dec. Then have poll for winners 1-7 Jan. Christmas day seems a bit short as Christmas dinner pics can't be taken until then - not much time to upload to PC, then to site etc. (Also, may have beverage or 2 and so may not be capable of techic stuff on Christmas day itself) H
Chickaboo
Sadly my girls will be alone on Christmas day as we are going to family However, I plan to celebrate with them a couple of days before (they don't have calendars) - mine will be sending Omlet christmas cards (of course), enjoying raisin treats and having their photos taken wearing little wooly bobble hats ('Innocent' smoothie drinks have had a help the aged campaign the last couple of years, and they put little hand knitted hats on each bottle, has anyone else seen them?? Well, they are just the right size for a chicken willing enough to wear it for a second or two )
