..,along with the Silver Brumby books (I was a horsey girl!)[/color]

me too! :D

also read 'Black Beauty' and do you remember the series 'Flambards'? I also read "The Horse and His Boy" while most people were reading his other book "The Lion the Witch and The Wardrobe" ;)

In fact, if a book had anything remotely to do with horses, I wanted it!

HP was written for young adults and while it nods to Arthurian myth (and Malory Towers!) it is much more of a novel than a saga.

Malory Towers - goodness, thats a blast from the past.

I used to love those, along with the Silver Brumby books (I was a horsey girl!)

Cinnamon, you are the first person I've ever met who has heard of the silver brumby series, let alone read them! I loved them! Also the Black Stallion series, ooh and probably many others that I can't think of now :?

Thanks Jules - I do remember that thread & it was interesting to read it again.

My youngest has just read 'Mrs Frisby & The rats of NIMH' which I read as a child & was enthralled by.

The downside of this is that she now likes rats & doesn't want us to get rid of them from the garden :?

And I'm the second :D . I wasn't particularly horsey but seem to remember reading lots of horsey books :? .

I'm the third. I also read Jill books. Its odd because the horsey ones seem in the main to be the ones that I cringe when I read them now

We went to see the Golden Compass a couple of weeks ago. I really enjoyed it. OH suggested watching it and I was surprised as it's not really his sort of film. I could tell 15 minutes in that he wasn't impressed - maybe because Daniel Craig was in it he thought it would be like Bond?!

Yeah was very sceptical for the first hour then pleasantly surprised- I saw a conglomeration of several films rolled into one with this film- a bit of narnia,Harry Potter,LOTR(golden compass not ring)to name but a few.

Loved the bears!
