Ain't Nobody Here
Got a blinking blizzard here - strong winds and snow lying thinly (so far ). Poor OH is on his bike .
Guest
We've had blizzards on and off all day - the school was apparantly open, despite the earlier powercut. They had no heating on, no lights, but they stayed open. Well, my lot stayed at home, because I assumed the worst, and with no radio to keep up to date with the school openings, I made the choice to keep them at home. It's clear at the moment, but I can see dark clouds looming towards us from the east, so I guess we're in for another snow-storm soon.... Guest
DD1 phoned from Huddersfield to say that after terrible gales and hailstorms this morning, with thunder, it is now snowing heavily. She's always so excited by the weather - even at 18!!
Ain't Nobody Here
She's always so excited by the weather - even at 18!! 18 . Try 45 . Now, let's play "spot the eglu".
Egluntyne
We had a little flurry here this aft. The high winds last night blew a branch onto the telephone lines at work, which brought them down, so there was no chance of me sneaking onto the forum. I am overwhelmed by red arrows now! Ain't Nobody Here
Glad you're back with us! Takes a bit of catching up if you're away for a while, doesn't it .

feemcg
It's a howling gale here and sleet - I was out giving the girls some sprouts and one of the chairs came sliding along the deck, and it sounds like the metal roof is going to lift off the runs. The girls are really spooked - I usually get 6-8 eggs a day, today
little chickadee
I do hope we get some snow, my son is sooooooooooo desperate for snow and has been confused all winter that we havn't had any. We don't seem to get much over here in East Anglia
Guest
My new girls have been less than impressed with the white stuff covering the floor of their run, and have been standing in the Eglu all day, occasionally sticking their heads out, pecking at the grass directly outside the door, then disappearing back in. It's BALTIC here now.

Guest
We took delivery of two Bovans Goldlines the other day - gorgeous little girls - they've been christened Mildred and Ethel, but I've not had a chance to get any photos yet, as the weather has been soooooo bad, and they've been sheltering in the Eglu most of the time. They do recognise the sound of the kitchen door already, mind, and have quickly learnt that small children = treats...
Christian
Congratulations Shona and welcome to the 'snow chooks'!! Hope you are all ok up there?? The Met office have changed us to severe trheat now and 80% chance of more snow to hit Scotland tomorrow. Wrap up warm! *rushes around the house looking for gloves*

Guest
I've turned the heating up, covered the Eglu in some old carpet, shut the curtains, and battened down the hatches for the night. Loc al radio is saying that we are in for SEVERE gales overnight, as well as more snow, so chookiehubbie has, in his infinate wisdom, has decided to drive home from Edinburgh, instead of staying at his mums, in the hope that we'll be snowed in my breakfast time tomorrow. feemcg
Congrats on the new chooks, Shona - you kept that quiet. Where did you get them, Paula's? You be careful on slippy paths with your precious cargo
Guest
Yup - Paula was coming over to Berwick anyway, so she dropped them off for me on Tuesday. Lovely girls, as is usual with Paula's girls, if slightly shell-shocked at the weather! I'm meant to be keeping my feet up at the moment, so I'm out as little as possible - when the weather is really bad, my neighbour picks the children up from school, to save me skating along the playground on my bum, before delivering early in the playground, in front of a school full of nosey children! Guest
When Hartley had her kittens in the summer, the poor thing gave birth, with an audience of various children from the street - didn't seem to bother her at all, she was the one who picked her spot, in the middle of the living room, in front of fascinated children. When one of those children present (5 years old) at the kittens birth heard that I was pregnant, he said 'cool, do we get to watch that too?' theherd123
Well why not Shona?! Think of it as giving them a good grounding in biology
Lesley
- I think if it was me, that I'd rather teach them cookery
Guest
been bitter here all day, we had gales and rain last night. Just been to put the girls to bed, was only out there for 5 minutes and I'm blue! Wouldn't surprise me if we woke to snow t'row.
Guest
Think of it as giving them a good grounding in biology Given that Caitlin seems to think that the baby is going to come out my belly button, I feel I may not be the right person to be teaching the children of the Borders all about biology...
