Leicester_H
People yawn, cats yawn, dogs yawn but I've never seen a chicken yawn. Anybody ? H
Ain't Nobody Here
Perhaps your chickens are so busy they never get bored? (Then again, they get so much blinking sleep, they'd have a nerve yawning ) Never seen mine do it, I have to say .
xScrunchee
I have seen mine do it but not very often. If they do it a lot I believe that it can be a sign of gape worm

Faye&Ant
They also 'yawn' when they are taking down the food in the crop, and also a sign of gapeworm so its good to keep any eye on em!
Carol U
What's gapeworm?
Faye&Ant
As I understand its a parasite that clings to their wind pipe (Im not a vet so bear with me). One of our girls had this last year and we had to put her on a course of worming powder and syring a concentrated dose straight down her throat. She looked really depressed and had no energy, had blood in her poo and kept yawning which was her way of gasping for air. Poor little thing we nearly her but shes a tough cookie.
