ali-s
Off topic...Since owning the chickens I've taken to wearing shorts type pants, far more flattering than hanging your botty on a clothes line...just wanted to share that BBx I'm with you there Buffie. Just kitted myself out with a load of shorts too. will clear out the cheese wires at the weekend. In the bin I think, not enough fabric to make a decent duster. To be honest since having the kids i can't wear them anyway, its all change down there! (I love to share!) Love the boxer-type pants, better for the bigger bum! DonnaS
Hello all. How do I find out what number I am? Anyway - only joined on 28 Dec or so (can't remember) since Eglu was Chrimble pressie. I came across chickens on a visit to Heligan in August 2004 and was quite taken by the clucking and chatting of a rather nice looking Buff Orpington. I'm not a huge pet lover really - children and hubby and job keep me busy enough - but somehow the chickens charmed me. I made mention of them a few times - got chicken pyjamas for Christmas 2004 and mother in law said 'that's the nearest you'll get to real chickens!'. What the heck, I put 'chickens' on my christmas list again this year - and whaddya know, my husband took me seriously! The orange eglu was wrapped up behind the sofa on christmas day with the label saying 'to my bonkers wife'! Got two chickens a few days later and the third a week after that. Haven't looked back. Love 'em! More anon. Donna

kannie
Isn't there a quicker way of finding out our numbers?! I must be in the middle - I joined in June, and I think I'll be clicking away till next June if I try to find my number, as you can only move forward or back 1 page at a time! We'd seen the eglu a while ago (in a Sunday supplement article?) and were impressed with the idea and the design. We were pet-less for a year because our elderly cats had died, and then we'd had major building works. During this gap year we'd developed a great population of wild birds in the garden, & got fond of them. Replacement cats would have put an end to this, but then chickens in an eglu!! Found the forum on the website, PMed a couple of local eglu owners, arranged visits, and couldn't get going quick enough!!
Fleata
im 687 i got chickens because i have always wanted a pet i could cuddle and hold (you cant cuddle a cockatiels no matter their name) but i have over the last year - 18 months become VERY allergic to a lot of things including anything with fur, gluten, wheat, grass, most things as well but only mild. I have 2 cockatiels so i knew feathers where ok so when i saw the science of food on eggs on BBC2 one night i saw the eglu and i knew right there and then hens where the ickle creaures i had been looking for. I hadn't even thought i could have had them until then.i couldn' stop thinking about chicken all that night and i just knew, the idea of it just fit me so well. Next morning at 9.00am i was onto omlet ordering my eglu and scouring the web for as much chicky knowledge as i could find and absorb... never looked back

kalikoo
I'm 316. Moved house 2 years ago with a very large garden thought it would be great to keep chickens in, would have liked to have got some battery hens but was adivised by my vet to get experience in chicken keeping first so came across Omlet on the internet which sounded fab, so had a family conflab and we all agreed, so for my birthday last March along came Scarlet & Honey who I love to bits! Aunty e
I'm 919 (and 918 if anyone wants to delete 'Eirian', put duff email address in by mistake). I saw the eglu in various sunday supplements and I've been pestering my husband to let me have a pet, any pet, for five years. This was the first thing he agreed to. He is now completely googoo over the chickens. Heaven knows what we'll be like when we have kids.
