(idea for a) free eglu competition

Recommended Posts

Hi just asking people to look at an idea i have had for a free eglu competition in the ideas section. I wanted to post to let people know that the idea came about after reading the battery hen rescue link. I was in tears, seeing the state of those poor hens compared to my neighbours large, plump, glossy and obviously well looked after chickens made me realise that i will never buy an egg again without checking the conditions it was layed. If there was a link from the competition it would be a good way of raising awareness to these appalling conditions. Hope u will let me know what you think. xx p.s desperately saving for an eglu so i can have my own eggs.xx

Sounds good to me - but I don't have the money to buy one for you to sponsor it!

Of course - like hundreds of others - I wouldn't mine winning one though

Of course I am! :D

Life is too short. If you want an eglu, get one - that's my philosophy. Don't bother saving up, waiting, worrying about anyone's feelings... etc etc. Just buy an eglu, rescue chickens (or get chickens somehow), place in eglu. Be happy. :D

If you already have one or more eglus and you have the room.... if you want another just buy it. They're groovey, practical and fab. Even if you don't want chickens, grow strawberries in them or something.

That's what I have always told my sons. If you want something. Just work out how to achieve it and then get on with it.

And Be Happy and Help Others :D

Sounds great Mel - you go for it. You could buy one a month. :D

Of course I'm not on commission. But let's face it - we all love eglus and want more, even if we've already got one. They're fab - great to have in the garden.

LJ - agree with you!

If eglus and chickens can make someone happy, for goodness sake, don't sit around dithering, wondering if or when you can get it - just order one - right now. Go on - top of the page - Shop - do it!! :D

eBay is great for getting rid of stuff too and generating extra cash. But don't delay, get your order in quick. The quicker you get an eglu, the faster you can achieve chicken nirvana.

The one regret I have is buying my eglu second-hand. I love it so much, that I wish I had paid full price and given Omlet my money directly. I totally respect the product and it is worth every penny. So, really sorry Omlet guys, if I could do it all again I would give you my business directly. But I am buying accessories. And we might be getting a Rabbit or two in the future, so a Rablu might be on the cards.

Do not have any doubts about getting an eglu. Initially, you might think it's expensive. But once you have it and you are using it, nothing comes close. Excellent build quality - they are fabulous. And when you go out to shut your chooks in at night, you will hear some gentle clucking in the eglu, so you slowly open the egg port door and see some little beaky feathery faces, sleepily looking at you. It's great. Buy one. (Eglu + chooks) = (eggs + happiness). Enjoy.

On a more sensible note, when you buy an Eglu you are bying into a lifestyle too - when you look at the people on this forum, we all have quite a few things in common, not least our chooks!

But it's the need to produce your own food (a deep-seated primeval instinct), at whatever level suits you, that we have in common. Besides, chickens are just the cutets things out - except for my bunnies that is!

I'm happy with my second hand one :D

I saved £54 on the new price and got added extras too.

It was only 5 months old and with buying anything second hand you need to be sure of condition and what's included before you work out what it is worth to you. It's obvious that the eglu is very well made so buying second hand shouldn't mean buying substandard.

I would have loved to have been able to buy new but £54 is a lot of money to us because I am a stay at home mum. Having said that I have been so floating on air this week that I can't imagine how having a new one can top that.

Graham you've convinced me  I'm almost convinced enough to order another, do you think hubby would notice if a pink one suddenly appeared in the garden :? I can't exactly do the old shoes trick, you know, stuff them in the back of the wardrobe.... then bring them out "what, this old pair, hed them ages, you're just so u"Ooops, word censored!"servant you've just not seen them":oops::oops::wink:

I love my eglus and chickens, can't think of anything better.

I'd definitely urge all those of you who are undecided or hesitating to just go for it, you'll not regret it :D
