Guest
I thought I would use vinegar today too Sheila. In fact I think I shall do vinegar twice a week and the oatmeal in between. I found that even after rinsing, I still had oatmeal on my head But lots of brushing should do it! It's a bit messy though, I have to vacuum afterwards. Every time I move my head, bits of oatmeal fly across the bathroom My daughters complained that when they got out of the shower they got oatmeal stuck to their feet
Sheilaz
In fact I think I shall do vinegar twice a week and the oatmeal in between. Yes, same here, it is good sharing this with you Ginette. I found that even after rinsing, I still had oatmeal on my head I manage to get the bits out OK, (but have to vacuum bathroom each time ) there is just a general dusty white appearance! I think this is where the Victorian 100 brushes of hair before bedtime must have come from![/quote]
The Dogmother
That '100 brushes' thing occured to me to Sheila, when I was just rinsing my hair, I tried to brush it a lot to distribute the oils along the hair.
Louise
I did that too Clare I am bad for not brushing my hair as it is so frizzy and wiry but I am making a point of doing it properly until the oils are spread right down and hopefully once I have done this it will actually be easy to brush and not like a coir doormat
Guest
I'm feeling less need to talk about my hair all the time now! I've completed 2 weeks and I have learnt how to manage it. I wonder what HappyMama meant about weeks 5-8 being the worst? I wonder if anyone else is finding this? I have stopped being bothered by the top of my head but the ends of my hair are feeling terribly dry and they are bothering me. Mind you I do need a haircut and that would probably sort it out! I always have a dry cut, so that wouldn't be a problem but I'm not sure that my hair would be clean enough to take to the hairdresser! And I don't want them wondering what all the little white spots of oatmeal are either!
Linda
Ginette, please keep talking about your hair. You and Sheila and Anne are inspiring those of us who are finding it a bit difficult. I couldn't find oatmeal in the local Rupert and Graves so ended up getting some millet grain and have tried rubbing that into dry hair. I think it will make a difference and will have a proper go tomorrow. I'm concerned about weeks 5-8 being the worst - can it really get worse than the first week?? Sheilaz
Oh yes, Ginette, please keep up a daily report (when poss!) to keep me going! Once again, my hair looked "OK" when I left the house this morning, but looked really scraggy all day, so I don't quite have the hang of it yet! Glad yours is good, I'm optimistic that I'll get a better routine going. It passed the 18yr old daughter test at w/e, she didn't comment. But then, perhaps she was being kind on Sunday! Good luck with millet grain, Linda, I've no idea of the difference!
Guest
I'm happy to keep posting as long as everyone else does too. You all keep me going! Sheila, I'm sure that my hair looks scraggy too. It's lovely when I brush it (and only a bit greased on top) but quickly separates and looks a mess. I have to brush it frequently. Interestingly though, I usually wear it tied back and I'm doing this less often now, I don't know why. Perhaps I've just gone weird!
Sheilaz
Great, we can be weird tiogether!

Louise
My hair is actually looking great really shiny and although it is still frizzy the frizz looks better and not so tangled (probably because I am actually brushing it for a change ) It doesn't feel greasy at all (it did after I washed it on Sunday) but now it is fine and my scalp isn't itching at all I haven' felt the need for vinegar or oatmeal - yet Mind you I am only at day 7 so a long way to go but when I reach week 5 I am gooing to be off work so I may not have to venture out too much looking at my worst
myles
I've been thinking about this 6/8 week thing too . My hair just feels a little greasy right in the roots, but looks ok. It doesn't feel dirty but I long for it to be squeaky clean. I think that feeling is a thing of tha past and i'll hopefully forget that sooon.(sighs)
Linda
Sheila, congratulations on passing the teenage daughter test!! If you can do that, you can pass anything. Well, the millet grain wasn't successful but I had to do something to make myself presentable for work today, so at 6.30 I was out in the garden rubbing muesli into my hair!!!! It was the only thing I could find. I did remove the sultanas first though. I hope some lucky birds have found all the bits that dropped on the patio and cleared them up! Pleased with the results though. May try some different cereals now.
The Dogmother
That's so funny Linda! I'm back on the wagon now, and will rinse only until I go on hols next week. Rosie is still going strong.
Karen & co.
that conjures up wonderful images Linda!!! Karen x
Sheilaz
Well done Rosie, I'm sure your hair is shining more than ever. Welcome aboard again, Clare . I'm still laughing at Linda & the muesli! But, what a good idea, nothing to vacuum up if I do the oatmeal in the garden. I'm not even worried what the neighbours might think, it'll only confirm what they must surely already suspect about their weird neighbour! But, poor LSH, watching his wife completely flip.... My hair is a bit too oily all the time. I'm realising why someone invenmted shampoo. So, the plan is to rinse with vinegar this afternoon (Tues is my day off) and if it's still bad, I'll do oatmeal (in the garden ) before going out for work Christmas Dinner tonight. Nicola H
What ever you do don't try Coco Pops................ Sorry I couldn't resist...........Keep up the good work girls I am sure you will get to the 5 weeks and really see the benefits after, I have just used shampoo again, but am still interested how everybody else is doing. Sheilaz
Might help the colour though. Not tempted to rejoin Nicola, now we have discovered the joys of oatmeal? Esp. with Jeff away, might be a good opportunity?

Guest
This is so exciting - so many good reports. Anne, I'm really pleased to hear your hair feels greasy to touch, I was wondering why yours looked so utterly fantastic! Sorry - I'm not being nasty, just reassured because mine feels greasy, but it doesn't look it anymore. I'm on Day 15 now, which seems to be a bit of a break through! Sheila - don't put up with grease. Use the oatmeal. I did a vinegar rinse yesterday and my hair looks really good now. It is shiny on top again, but the back of my head is, apparently, still a bit dull. I wonder what will happen over the next week?
Mel (& Paul)
I just LOVE the idea of you standing out in the back garden surrounded by chickens and wild birds eating the raisens as you scrub your hair with museli!!!!!
Linda
You can do it too Mel!! I'm sure your family and friends accept all the strange things you do with the same amusement/bewilderment/resignation and rolling eyes as mine do.
