Sheilaz
Yes, our top hen is Penny, one of the original pair. Esther chose Chuckles (which I love) but we were stuck on agreement, so I told her about trditional hen names, such as Henny Penny, so Penny stuck. Biscuit was one of an adopted pair, already named, & she is like a Gingernut Biscuit. Pauline, Petrova & Posy were named by me, after the 3 sisters in Noel Streatfield's Ballet Shoes. Esther disagrees but didn't have alternatives.
Cookie
I'm using up all the beautiful Victorian names that I wanted for my children, but OH would never have allowed in a million years!!! Now I need to get some male pets so I can start using up beautiful Victorian boys' names too Alternatives for Queenie, our newest arrival. were Adelaide, Mabel and Eliza, but we hoped she'd be Queen Bee in the run so we went for Queenie. Henrietta-A Black Rock, who wobbles on the edge of their washing up bowl drinker. Starlet-A Bluebelle, who is very cuddly and lovely and fluffy! HennyPenny
Ours were going to be Dolly and Jean (after Victoria Wood's marvellous dinnerladies) but when we got them, the redhead was definitely in charge so they became Rita and Mavis. Lindy Loo
My Chickens are called: Ginger - predictable as she is a gingernut ranger Geraldine - Named after Geraldine & Daphne in the film Some Like it Hot as Daphne they walk a bit like Jack Lemon & Tony Curtis did when they were wearing high heels Lucy - no particular reason Mabel - She is a Mabel Pearman Burford Brown and she is a BIG girl so a solid name seemed to suit. Cookie
Wow - I didn't realise there were so many Queenie's in the world! I always wanted a little girl called Victoria, and thought I could then shorten it to Queenie, but when I was pregnant with DD, my OH vetoed that idea No imagination!! Love, Cookie. xx
Guest
our chickens are Rosie Willow Bramble and Hazel named after things that do well in our garden .The alternative much vaunted by the Chief Assistant was Willow, Anya, Buffy and Tara but we felt we had to veto that or before we knew it we would have to have Spike and Angel
Mrs Blue Sky
When I was pregnant with Emma my mother in law wanted me to call her Victoria (like it was anything to do with her ) and I did consider it just to be nice and decided that if I did choose that name she would be Plum as a nickname! Now I really do have a Plum.
