Egluntyne
Perhaps you could rig something up with perspex panels.
chelsea
when we had our eglu run we used skirting board another idea is a layer of old bricks stacked 2 or 3 high around the run - you could make a feature with small potted plants to make it look nice or railway sleepers look nice as they are nice and thick and chunky and give it that "rustic" look
Christian
I use gravel board from Wickes. It comes in a bundle of 5 planks. I simply tie it around the bottom of the run and it keeps most of the aubiose in.
Swinnys Hinny
We used bamboo lawn edging from Wilkinsons as it matched our garden and screening.....took some pictures of it today so I will try and post them tomorrow. Similar to this but bamboo http://www.wilkinsonplus.com/invt/0210610 SH
Janty
We use railway sleepers. They look quite nice and you can put plant pots on them to brighten up the garden when the little ratbags have destroyed the grass. I put windmills in my plant pots to deter the girls from eating the herbs.
theherd123
I know this it totally off topic but Janty your washing line is the height of my house!!! How do you reach it???
Snowy
I know this it totally off topic but Janty your washing line is the height of my house!!! How do you reach it??? I was wondering that as well! Also, do the windmills actually work?
Egluntyne
Windmills?
Olly
Ah, windmills - what a brilliant idea! (Not THAT sort Egluntine - those whirligig-on-a-stick things you buy for children at the seaside! ) I never thought of that, does it put them off. Sorry - in answer to the original question, I use plastic lawn edging fastened to the run with cable clips, and I have Los Tres Pollos to thank for that inspired (and thrifty) idea! It only comes up a few inches so it doesn't obscure the run.
Janty
The washing line is on pulleys and the windmills do work... my herbs are still intact as are primulas.
clucky1
You could put the chooks on a treadmill. Attach that to the windmill. Attach the windmill to the washing line . Your washing will then dry - EVEN when there is no wind ! (Genius I know )
Janty
Don't think the cochins would go for that one ... too much like hard work.

Mirkwood
I have corragated plastic covering the whole of my run and it getts out because of the wavey panels. i am going to use skirting board all around the bottom
Ain't Nobody Here
I use old whirlygig (rotary drier, not ones on a stick ) covers but they're not things of beauty so I'd quite like a clear version instead. I need something that'll fit round the perches and shoe racks that stick out of the sides though . Interesting about the corrugated plastic - good for rain, not for hemcore retention .
