She hasn't crouched but she laid!!!

Recommended Posts

OMG! One of the girls has laid an EGG!!! :D:D:shock:

I went to puff up their nest box and there it was... It's small, but perfectly formed, with a slight reddish spot about the size of a 5p on one side.

I cannot believe it!! Neither of them has been crouching so I didn't think I'd get an egg for a while, but there it was... :D:lol: What a perfect Easter Egg! :D

For a moment I thought my son had popped one into the nest box to trick me, but when I picked it up I realised it was for real. :D

I sort of jumped up and down and said to my neighbour's daughter: "It's an egg! Our first egg!" Think she thought I had slightly lost the plot.

Not sure which one laid it. Omlet is bigger and her comb and wattles are slightly redder, but neither of them has really red comb and wattles.

Very happy. Even DH seems impressed in a cool, manly fashion!

Wow, another genuine Easter egg!

Some of mine just don't crouch - Nutmeg is too shy, and I think it's beneath Angelica's highly-bred dignity to pay any attention to humans! Esme on the other hand is a little tart and crouches the moment I open the back door

Well, glad NOT crouching is OK.

Both girls let me stroke them for a second or two, and when I try and do that, they go low as if to escape me, but it's not crouching. They chase me when I go out into the garden. Omlet even jumped on my lap one evening  Greed is of course their only motive, but no activity even vaguely resembles a crouch.

Anyway, I managed to get a photo of the egg loaded up onto the Omlet gallery - it's at: club.omlet.co.uk/gallery/main.php?g2_itemId=25729

It looks like every other egg around, but well, it's special to us. :boohoo:

One of mine has never crouched either and she has been laying for over a month - well done and extra special on Easter Sunday.

(My daughter left me my Easter egg in the Eglu - but luckily had the sense to lock the chickens out of it first!

My bantams don't crouch and two out of three are laying now. :?

My hybrids on the other hand....Magpie has been crouching now for 13 days I worked out today and nothing, zero, nada, zip in the way of eggs. Sylvie started crouching today, at this rate she'll start laying before Magpie.
