Chickvic
My lovely girls turned up bright and early this morning and have already scared one cat! Pearl was crouching when I went back into the garden! I know they can't have treats until the afternoon but can I give them some today? I bought a bag of mixed corn from a pet shop is this ok? I'm sure I will think of something else later!! Lots of things later!
Hen Watch
Glad to hear your new girls have arrived. Expect you will spend most of today chicken watching...... They will like a little bit of mixed corn this afternoon. Don't give too much though. When you go out with the treat, make a clicking noise or similar, mine come running when I "click click" or shout "chook chook" as they think I've got treats. Enjoy them today. Laura & CTB
Have a great day Chickvic. I'm sure your girls would love a treat or two
WitchHazel
I bought a small brass bell (about 2 inches high, the bell is a lady's skirt type thing). I take the bell and the treat bowl out to the chooks. Then, just before I give them treats I dingle the bell. I did this every time, and now when they are out free ranging all I have to do is stand in the run and dingle the bell, and they come racing back in. It's great if I need to get them in in a hurry. TAJ
I do not need a bell or to make any noise - I only have to come in sight (indoors or outside) for them all to come running - even coming out of the back door which is out of sight puts them into a frenzy. Such friendly things, but I know it is the food not me they really love! Tracy

ajm200
One of ours comes running whenever she spots us at the patio door. The rest will follow their treat bowl to the ends of the earth
Chickvic
I thought the bell was a great idea until my husband pointed out that the cats have bells on their collars! I don't think they'd appreciate being mobbed by the chickens!! They have just gone to bed having finally figured out what the eglu is for hopefully they'll remember tomorrow! Thanks for all the replies and yes I have spent the day chicken watching!!
