I didnt really choose it, it could have been any dean martin song tho :)

The cd actually played over once, and they had to restart it, it took them that blooming long to give me the horrid epidural.

I am currently listening to 'Beyond the sea' lovely song

I adore the pogues too Jules!

Swimming, swimming, swimming, keep swimming, keep swimming. Who said that? Am I a fish?

Number 1 she got stuck so any music got turned off whilst the room filled with people and they wheeled in the foetus frightening machine,

Number 2 was a c-section in a sugar cane town in New South Wales and was under general anaesthetic so they could have played Nelly the Elelphant for all I know,

Number 3 was a fab, perfect birth but I didn't have any music as I needed peace to concentrate (I discovered I needed to go "into" myself to concentrate on letting my body do what it wanted to - now I'm good at giving birth I've given up doing it :? ) Mind you I was yelling NNNNOOOOOOOOO!!!! at one point so it wasn't that peaceful

But being an old hippy I took the placenta home and buried it - we get the BEST apples in Bisley, and I'm not kidding either!

You're a bit of a music fiend aren't you Laura? Where on earth do you hear about some of the stuff you find?

All the really obscure bands you mention on here (or maybe I'm just SO old now (so nearly 40 I can reach out and sniff it  ) that I'm out of date!

I love all sorts but I generally only get to hear what comes on the radio - manage to embarrass my kids on a regular basis by singing along loudly when they have their mates round. One of their little friends is my favourite cos she reckons I should go on X Factor - that made me laugh for near on five full minutes

Thanks Laura. :D Is youtube your homepage or what?!

Mrs B - I'm surprised you didn't make Hugh Fearlessly Eats-it-all's speciality, placenta pate, if you're a hippy at heart? Or are you veggie?

When people see some of my pregnancy "artwork" they accuse me of being a hippy.

Its not that your old.

Ive always litterally absorbed anything Arty....

Music/art/fashion/film etc etc. I love obsecurity, i love new things, i get bored so fast. I'd still be changing my avatar everyday, but people got too confused...

talking of which i feel a new one coming on,.....

[edit- changed to seth when he was 12 weeks old, and he learnt to poke his tongue out, and never stopped doing it]

No music for our boy..

After 5 days in hospital with on-off labour and very high blood pressure, we'd got though all the batteries that I had for my player and all the hospital ones were either broken or in use...

All very different from the home waterbirth that I'd planned

That sounds good. Did it take much preparation?

I had six 2 hour sessions with a hyp"Ooops, word censored!"irthing hypnotherapist and then I had to practice every night for about 3 weeks before. I was a bit slack at practising everything though so I ended up with sore stomach muscles after. If I were mad enough to do it again (and I'm not) I'd definitely do all the exercises before birth

Home births both of mine... I'm horrified of hospitals!

Had the birthpool ready for water births both times, but once the midwife thought the water was too cold, and the other too hot! So both were born on the carpet :P

Can't remember the music on the actual moment of birth (I was a tad distracted with something else... ) but I remember having new age music during labour, the usual, ocean waves, forest sounds, celtic harp, that sort of thing - I think. To be honest I wasn't too fussed, it was more to relax daddy and keep the midwives awake!

I was due to have music playing for my daughter's birth, but n the time came I really didn't care about that. I was lucky enough to have a water birth which was wonderful (until the end, which involved being lifted out of the bath at the last minute by 6 people and giving birth in mid air!!!!)

I think the cd player actually got left in the car !

When Elisabeth was born I had a lot of gas and air....I looked up at the TV in the delivery room and saw Cliff Richard singing in the rain at Wimbledon.....Thought I must be imagining things due to the drugs..it was 2 months later when I saw some news trailers and saw him again and remebered my thoughts . So Elisabeth was born to Cliff Richard singing a medley at Wimbledon. Whenever it comes on the TV I remeber her wonderful birth. :D
