surferdog
Last weekend I propped up a mirror in the pen. Since then whenever the girls are doing their 'chicken pile' thing they are all piled up in front of the mirror! Do they think there are more chickens in there or are they just admiring themselves? Looks very funny but can't get a photo as they run over squawking everytime the back door goes.
meezers
I've no idea, but mine come into the kitchen and stand infront of the glass oven door admiring their reflections ! (when I've remembered to clean it )
Lydia
One of mine is regularly wanders into the kitchen and admires herself in the washing machine.
Flo
I put a mirror up at the weekend and Luci must have thought that it was another chicken. she bokked at it for a few minutes and when she goes into the run she jumps when she catches a glimpse of herself. Mabel seemed to quite like it though, and Luci seems to be getting used to it
chickenlass
Aww how sweet...I suppose people put mirrors in Budgie cages don't they? so perhaps the do recognise the reflection as another hen.
Tessa the Duchess
I hung quite a large mirror in my run and it is a big hit They spend ages in front of it, I'm almost tempted to build a little shelf under it for their make up and hairbrushes Tessa
Trixabell
I might try putting a mirror in mine as another distraction for them!! I tried a CD but that doesn't seem to work
surferdog
Mine have studiously ignored the CD I hung for them but they love the mirror. Only problem is more cleaning - one of them scored a direct hit while they were checking if their bum looked big
BarbaraJ
Mine love their mirror, have to give it a clean i think they have lipstick and mascara all over it!

moomin
I hung two CDs in on strings and they went off together and sat in the corner of the run with their backs to the CDs. Looked like they were sulking! So I took them out! I have been looking for a smallish square mirror, the kind with a plastic frame, everyhere. If anyone has any ideas where I can get one please let me know?
surferdog
Wilkinsons have a range of cheap mirrors. The one I got has a wooden frame and was £5 but it's quite big (full length chicken mirror) but there were lots cheaper. Might also be worth trying a pound shop. Ain't Nobody Here
I tried the CD too - it just spins rounds furiously in the breeze and the girls don't seem to have even noticed it . They need a mirror . Must look out for one of those dressing room ones with lights round the sides . Needs to be battery operated .
Abbey Road Girl
I saw a polished metal mirror on a chain at the local pet shop. It was about 4" wide x 5" long and on a chain. No makeup lights though!

hennymom
mine have cds for what use they are, the girls strut past them without even a second glance, so I'll move them out now...and try to get hold of a mirror, and some glass wipes...lol cos if mine score a direct hit whilst checking if their bums look big they'll be cleaning it themselves!!!!!! Snowy
These have made me laugh so much - I must get a mirror!
hilda-and-evadne
I used a mirror from an old wardrobe. I laid it on its side along one side of the run and used garden wire to secure it to the wire mesh. It looks OK, really, no, no, not at all junkyardy ... Will post photos sometime when I am organised enough. I already had the mirror but sometimes a whole second-hand wardrobe can cost less than a small new mirror. (I can't believe the prices of small mirrors in B&Q.)
