ali-s
I've just got home from work to find Ruby dead in the run She is now in a straw lined box until I decide what to do with her body I'm not sure I should bury her in the garden as we will be moving in June and I would hate it if the new owners discover her body when gardening Ruby was the friendliest of my girls, always getting under my feet I will miss her Ruby had not laid and egg since last August but her comb was red. She still did all the chickeny things, stratching about, jumping up onto the tree branches, she liked to rest alot but was always first for treats. RIP Ruby

Olly
Really sorry to hear that. You could ask your vet to dispose of her remains for you. If you would prefer to bury her in the garden, then the advice I was given is that the hole needs to be 3' deep (and that's hard work, believe me!) however if you do that, it's unlikely that her resting-place would be disturbed. ali-s
I buried Ruby in the garden this evening, I couldn't just put her in the bin ( as someone who shall remain nameless suggested and said someone didn't know which chicken Ruby was when I told him she had died ) She is next the bird feeder, her favourite place to peck up fallen bird seed I have placed a stone bird bath on top so hopefully nothing will disturb her. I hope the new owners of our house like the bird bath Thanks for the replies
