Tessa the Duchess
TBH I am a bit wary of these free sample offers. A while ago I applied for quite a few things and I have never received any of them Did anybody get the Ecover free samples? Tessa
Guest
As long as the free samples are being offered from a reputable company and you have the option to opt out of any further contact and/or having your details passed around, then you should be OK... But of course, at the end of the day, it's at your own discretion. You have to bare in mind though that your details will probably stay on their system for at least 12 months if not longer. Do you trust/know everyone that could potentially access that data? What about if a hacker breaks in and downloads that data. Or if a CD containing your data is "lost in transit"! Risk is all around us everywhere, do you want to play the game?
Tessa the Duchess
Risk is all around us everywhere, do you want to play the game? Gosh I'm not that paranoid. I just don't want to waste time filling in some online form and then getting nothing in return. Tessa.
Guest
lol paranoid? It's the truth! Everything in life is a risk, but what would life be without risk? I guess at the end of the day they could have just ran out of stock and not sent the free product. There is usually loads of stuff in the small print like a get out clause of subject to availability. Also there is usually an offer end date and an only 1 per household rule etc. Edited April 29, 2008 by Guest
The Dogmother
It's wise to take precautions with online personal data, and as you say, it's down to each person's own judgement. Personally, I think that if I worried about it too much, I'd become a recluse It's a fine line.
MedusA
TBH I am a bit wary of these free sample offers. A while ago I applied for quite a few things and I have never received any of them Did anybody get the Ecover free samples? Tessa I didn't get mine, Tessa. I would want to know more about this product's "cruelty-free" credentials. I only take vegetarian glucosamine at the moment. Nevertheless, thanks for the info Claret. The Dogmother
I think that Ecover must have been inundated by requests and run out! I've had lots of their washing up liquid samples in the past and the bottles (once empty) are great for decanting my Faith in Nature shower gel into for travelling. I've been and had a look and their tablets and liquids are described as suitable for vegeterians but not their capsules as they are made from animal derived gelatin There is no mention of animal testing other than a list of places universities etc that are cited as having tested their products so I would guess that they are animal tested it is a grey area as they are supplements rather than medicines so aren't subject to the same controls but there being no mention makes me think they probably have been tested on animals somewhere along the line MedusA
