Here's a top tip - when you're washing your veg, a bit of vinegar in the water will help any little "passengers" to let go.
And if your veg is not organic (perish the thought) the vinegar will also help to remove any pesticide residues. (I worked in residue analysis at Shell for 2 years).

Is that any kind of vinegar? bog standard chip shop stuff?

Talking of salt and Vinegar, I've just been reading how you can use one or the other to kill weeds.

 

Sprinkle salt in the middle of say a dandelion and it will get rid of it. You can do the same with vinegar apparently as well.
