Here is a picture of the eggs I have collected from just half my flock this week - the half who have been dosed so we cannot eat these egs

I know what you mean, Sarah . We've had 5 or 6 eggs a day for the last few weeks. I now have 2 customers but when we get a couple more hens, I'll need to find some more or we'll be over run .

Also I dropped one this morning getting it out of the nest box

Roll on Gertrude & Rosa, but with them being a SLW & a Cream Legbar I will not have eggs over winter with them.

I know a man who has some Christian, & they are lovely fat fluffy hens too

 

I am scrambling them up for the hens to eat tomorrow I think - a little treat for them after all their hard work

I don't dare get anymore! Although it appears that Laverne has retired. No eggs for 6 weeks now She is still a little angel though

They have been Eprinexed Liz, which is an anti mite treatment given in drops on the back of the neck.

It is not liscenced for poultry in the UK, but a fair few vets prescribe it & some of us use it as a precautionary measure.It also may clear up worms & treat ALL mites like scaley leg & lice too

Its used to treat humans for worms in Africa,but we withdraw the eggs for a week as a precaution.With 10 in lay its no hardship to dose half the flock & withdraw one week,then the other half the next
