lisaroo2
They're out! Yup, it's Ladies Night here in Staffs! Daisy, Maisie and Rosie are all enjoying their first time exploring their 'manor'. Daisy has already managed to climb on top of the eglu and have a 'birds eye' view. Rosie looked up at her with a complete look of disgust as if to say 'such a juvenile, we're laying eggs now you know and haven't got time for THAT sort of thing!' Anyway they're still very busy ferreting around. Might need the old 'torch in the nest box' trick to get em back in, they aren't gonna want to go to bed after having so much fun are they? Even managed to pick Rosie up for the first time! It is lovely to see them so happy and doing what chooks should do...
Christian
It's lovely to see them pottering around in the garden isn't it? Did you get them back in okay?
lisaroo2
Yep, they went in by themselves, thats enough excitement for one day. I can hear them discussing it inside the eglu...
Cooks
bless their hearts, I love to see mine pottering around, it's funny because if Sugar 'loses' Cocoa for a second she goes frantically looking for her.. Are they eating out of your hands yet?, my kids were beside themselves when ours started to do that!
lisaroo2
Hi Loopyloo No, they're not eating out of our hands yet. Rosie stoops and lets me pick her up. Maisie will let me stroke her but not pick her up and Daisy, hmmmm Daisy she is the most timid of the three and won't let me anywhere near her. She is the youngest and the most flighty, I'll get her trust eventually... It's funny cos Rosie picks on Daisy but when we've been into their enclosed bit today Daisy has ran to find Rosie and tried to get underneath her! Funnygirl! Cooks
they will eventually Lisa it's amazing how they get more trusting each day. We've had ours 2 weeks now, and they are crouching now, so we are waiting eagerly for our first eggs the crouching certainly helps when you want to pick them up , they love to be stroked but Sugar is less sure than cocoa, unless you have grapes and then she's anyones! They decided that they didn't like a noisy bird on the fence today.. poor bird got a right telling off!
lisaroo2
Rosie does alot of crouching when I go near her. Is she frightened of me or telling me she wants a cuddle, or neither! Maisie has started to crouch a little more. Both are laying eggs.
Ain't Nobody Here
I don't think it'll be a cuddle she's expecting . They crouch 'cos they think you're a cockeral . They'll keep crouching as long as they're laying! Glad to hear you're having such fun with your girls .
Snowy
Yup, she's just being a little flirt!
lisaroo2
Sounds like I should rename my girls 'The Staffs Tarts' instead of the Staffs Lasses. What little flirts!
