ali-s
The mechanic from the village garage has just knocked at my door to see if I had lost a chicken. She had wandered into the garage workshop this morning and has spent the day there eating sandwiches The mechanic got talking to a friend of friend of my next door neighbours mum who told him I had a flock. So Big ginger is now in a cat carrier in my downstairs loo. I am waiting for OH to come home so we can put together the red Eglu and run. Big ginger is very tame and very big We don't know where she has come from, I thought I was the only chicken owner in the village. I will have to put a notice in the local shops and see if anyone claims her.

Egluntyne
Isn't it odd how these strays seem to find a friendly Eglu owner. You will have to choose a name for her if she stays. I love the idea of her eating sandwiches.
moomin
Bless! I hope she gets to stay with you

ali-s
You will have to choose a name for her if she stays. Ooops I have already named her Big Ginger. Seriously I can't really keep her. Not sure how the Bantams would react.
The Dogmother
Did she eat her crusts? I like the name Big Ginger. All these Chickens of Fate... it must be a sign
Cooks
I bet she was loving all the attention and the sandwiches is the garage
ali-s
She is now in the Eglu. It is the first time the run has been used. The summer shade has never been used either. A bit of a panic when we couldn't find the golden pin, run clips and door section of the run They were in a safe place The Eglu and run setup looks very smart We certainely won't be run building when we have moved
SLK69
loving the 'chicken of fate' - if you feel you can't keep her - and her chk mum doesn't come forward, I have space in my cube for one more susie
Abbey Road Girl
Aw, bless. Love the image of mechanics feeding their sarnies (as if they had a choice) to the chook! All's well that ends well. Good luck!
Abbey Road Girl
I thought I was the only chicken owner in the village. Little Britain? In any case, best of luck to you and Big Ginger!
Ain't Nobody Here
The same thing occurred to me ARG . Are you not already feeling the urge to perhaps get her a couple of friends . You've already got the eglu . I hope you find out where she came from.
susanbb
It's another Ginger Chicken of Fate . Sometimes these things are meant to be . She sounds lovely
Mrs Frugal
I absolutely agree, Susan. These funny ginger chickens seem to find people who need them . I'd just lost Clarry when our little ginger chicken of fate turned up. Ali, you lost a hen the other day too, didn't you? If you keep her, I hope she turns out to be a super character like Coffee is. She's such a little madam .

ali-s
A happy ending. Big Ginger has gone home. Actually I am quite pleased as I don't think my six would have taken to her She lives alone and has the run of the garden all day. The owner thinks it is about time she has a friend or two BG made my Bantams look even smaller. I definately will be getting a couple or three big girls when we have moved Now I will have to dismantle the Eglu and clean up the lawn. BG's poos are enormous
The Dogmother
Such a shame that she lives on her own
Ain't Nobody Here
Oh well, at least the mystery's solved. How long's she been living on her own, I wonder . No wonder she went walkabout - she was probably desperating seeking someone feathery .
susanbb
Such a shame that she lives on her own I felt quite sad about that too. At least she's going to get some friends now.
