Lisastyal
thats a really cute name xx suits her! and I am a true believer in Rabbits and Guineas living together, They can be fine together. OK sometimes it doesnt work out but they sound as though they will be great hutchmates!!! xx
SarahCavy
Sorry, but it's never a good idea to put the two completely different breeds together. If the rabbit kicks out and Guinea happens to be in the way, it will probably be a case of no moreGuinea. . Putting the two together is usually a case of for our convenience and not the Guineas welfare. Rabbits are strong, Guineas are fragile. I presume you are feeding Guinea Pig dried food and not Rabbit food?
BooBoo
I'm afraid I agree with Sarah Cavy. Apart from the health aspect, I think its important to keep g-pigs with other g-pigs so they can communicate with each other. Rabbits don't understand guinea pig and guinea pigs can't mind read (mute) rabbits. My guinea pigs 'talk' to each other all the time and obvioulsy understand the endless 'we're getting cucumber!!!!' 'get out of my pigloo' 'I'm scared' 'I've heard something new' squeaks they make. A rabbit wouldn't.

poachedegg
I don't know the answers to your questions however this link does give some info or contact a vet? http://www.comfycavies.com/Care/Breeding/breeding.htm
victoriabunny
Is the father in with the mother and the babies? If so, he will have mated with the mother and she is very probably pregnant again. Females can become pregnant a day after giving birth. This is obviously not good for them and if you haven't done so already you must separate the father from the others at once. How old are the babies? You need to sex them and see if you have any males - or they will soon be breeding with their mother and sisters. I don't mean to be rude, but you don't seem to know much about breeding at all. You really shouldn't do it unless you are a proper breeder - it is irresponsible and rescue centres are overflowing with enough guinea-pigs already. I completely agree + i know of a piggie killed by a rabbits kick (broke its spine! ) Rabbits and guineas can sometimes get along but they are better with their own kind>
mot336
Hi Honey, and welcome to the forum In answer to your questions it would be best if you could house the father pig away from the females, he would not usally harm mother or babies but will be keen to mate! G pigs can be sexed from day olds so take them in to your local pet shop or vets if you need help finding out what they are. I split up the boys and girls at 4 weeks and they can be sold at around 6 weeks. enjoy your baby g pigs
