Don't you just want to slap her???!!!

Recommended Posts

Yes I think it was meant to be tongue in cheek (and probably her peers would find it amusing at their budget supper parties) but can't imagine the patronised Asda shoppers finding it funny.

BTW I do shop at Waitrose (well Ocado) as well as Lidl. I just found the whole tone of the article rather unpleasant.

YES!!! i do just want to slap her.

"blobby people" my a**e! Shes not Miss England herself.

I really hate people like her - she has nothing useful to say so should just keep her mouth well and truly shut BUT although I hate to admit it there probably are plenty more like her out there.

Thank god there aren't Waitrose supermarkets up North lol (or not that ive seen anyways)

I loved it!

I think I may just be Waitrose woman. Although I do shop and Lidl and Aldi, fairly often. NOTHING ON THIS PLANET would get me into Asda though - its just as she described and worse, staff underfoot but ask for help and they don't know. Aisles so high and long you get lost. Hardly any of the stuff I actually want to buy and after bout 5 mins I lose the will to live.

My last foray into this hell hole was on a Saturday morning, I used the loo and was quite put out to find myself in a queue with STAFF! Staff should not be using the customer toilets. As I wandered round, lost, I asked where I would find fresh bread and was told "you'll be lucky, they only bake once on Saturday and it all sells out by 10am". I asked wouldn't it be sensible to bake more and was told again "they only bake once on Saturday, you have to get here early". I left, and drove to Waitrose.

Buy all my petrol there though.

I shop at Waitrose :D ... and I'm no 'waitrose woman'... I'm the scruffy mum with four kids in tow and I'm too busy keeping them in check to scrutinise other shoppers :D

Actually mostly I order stuff from Ocado... don't let one silly person put you off a shop, it's not actually their fault she shops there :D

A loathsome article from a loathsome person in a loathsome newspaper- why anyone buys this horrible rag is totally beyond me. The bit about not looking th Aldi shoppers in the eye and holding her daughter's hand really tightly made me want to stake her out in the road and run her over repeatedly with her own Range Rover.

Oh I love looking in other people's baskets - and I laugh sometimes when I look at mine and wonder what people think of me!

I once stood behind two, fairly senior, senior citizens (I love that phrase), the first, a lady, was buying a tub of Ben & Jerry's ice cream (only) and the second, a man was purchasing a rather nice bottle of wine and some flowers (only).

They were not together - but maybe they should have been?

I hope my life like is like than when I am older.

Our new 'flagship' Waitrose (the store has been here 20 years but its just been refurb'd) now gives £1,000 a month shared between three local good causes - nominated by customers and voted for by putting a green counter in a collecting point (you can do it every time you shop). It makes me love shopping at Waitrose even more.

But I am definitely not Waitrose woman.

I also challenged them over their 'local food' stance - they buy local products and tell us they come from 'only 8 miles away' - but everything has to go to Bracknell to be distributed back again :?

(She said weaving erratically off-topic. Sorry)

my OH loves Waitrose food, it is nice, bit pricy though, so I don't mind bargin shopping basics, not everyonce can afford Waitrose M&S prices so I think her tone was s"Ooops, word censored!"bish & patronsiing, but I think it was supposed to be funny

....., but I think it was supposed to be funny

but there are people like her around, I know someone like that. She's related to me by marriage and I don't see her often, thank god!

She uses terms like "the great unwashed" and belittles other people's tastes and way of life. We went out with her and her husband one evening. She went to the loo and was gone ages, I went to look for her and saw her legs sticking out from under the cubicle door, she'd passed out drunk!

I think people like that are to be pitied, there's obviously something wrong in their own lives if they have to scrutinise, judge and belittle other people's lives to feel good about themselves.

What a horrible article... written or edited by someone with more money than sense

We do shop a Waitrose for fruit and veg but only because our local Tesco and Sainsburys find it impossible to supply their customers with decent fruit and veg that can stay fresh for a couple of days. About 50% of our shopping money goes on fruit and veg so i can't afford to be chucking stuff out.

I'm not ashamed to get all the other stuff that doesn't go off easily at the cheaper shops and did the same when we had two good incomes and could afford to shop where we liked. I do agree that Asda is awful though,

This reminds me of someone we know making a big thing of the fact that their Xmas crackers were made by the company that supplies the Queen and had cost 25 quid from some overpriced local shop.

We'd bought exactly the same crackers (identical to look at, same poor jokes and naff gifts) in slightly different packaging for a fiver at a supermarket... she was less than impressed when we pointed it out..
