Vandals in our school carpark

Recommended Posts

A couple of weeks ago, 8 cars in our staff car park were damaged by someone running over the bonnets and roofs  . Quite a bit of damage was done to a few of the cars.

Apparently now, they've moved on to removing the hubcaps, doing something to the air nozzle thing, and replacing the hubcaps so that the tyres slowly deflate.

The CCTV caught the first culprits but they've not been identified, the latest "prank" was missed because the cable had been cut  .

My car's been safe so far, but it's not a nice feeling knowing your car's not even safe at work.

Just to top it all, the teachers' union covers their excess but the support staff aren't covered :? .

Stories like this just make me :twisted::twisted:

How can such mindless vandalism happen...whatever happened to respect for other people's property and all that :? .

I hope that they can eventually catch the toads that did this damage to the staff cars, and feed them to the nearest hungry hedgehogs  . And I sincerely hope that your car stays safe ANH.

I feel for you and your colleagues. I park in the local multi storey while I'm at work and we occasionally get problems ranging from damage to theft! The CCTV doesn't cover 100% of the car park, and isn't monitored, the images just get recorded to be viewed later if a problem is reported!

Hope they catch the little wotsits and there are no more incidents.

This is happening during the day?

I wonder why the school governors don't sanction the employment of a security guard/car park attendant, for the short term anyway.

I work in a very small state special school. We think the scumbags that are doing it are from the large state secondary school which is right next door. They're doing it at breaktime  .

Our budget has been severely cut and there's no way the Council would pay for a security guard, sadly. Our janitor (sorry, Services Support Officer  ) is going to watch the carpark at breaktimes so hopefully that may stop it happening - how long can he keep doing that though :? .

Unfortunately, we're between heads at the moment. Our lovely head retired last term and our acting head didn't get the job (cheers all round  ) so we're waiting for our new head to start next term. The acting head's been off since failing to get another job too.

Haven't really heard what's being done about it, just that they couldn't identify the kids :( . I spend a bit of time at the high school with some of our kids, maybe I should ask to see the footage  . "Little Johnny broke his arm falling off his chair  ?. How tragic  ."

Sadly, the school isn't in a particularly good area of Edinburgh :? . Lots of the kids are perfectly nice but there is an element of shall we say, not the best behaved children. I suspect the parents won't be coming forward any time soon  .

A colleague had a flat tyre yesterday. Could have been "natural causes" but it would be a heck of a coincidence :? .

let's hope that's an end to it and that they're dealt with severely. Never mind coming forward voluntarily, they should be forced to cough up!

I would definately have a word with the school that these toerags come from. The school is responsible for the behaviour of it's pupils during school hours.

And don't worry Fred, many of us know that this type of person is the minority. Since i've been on my mobility scooter, it is the youngsters who have shown me the most respect, eager to jump out of the way and always apologetic if they do happen to be in front of me. Adults, however, lok at me as if i have no right to be on the pavement.

Speaking as someone who has zero children-i can fully understand why some animals eat their young...

I do hope they are convicted and not just given a slap on thr wrist.

The Law is different in Scotland, but in England if they admit it, they will probably get no more than a Reprimand or possibly a Final Warning depending in the severity, and maybe a spot of community service as the idea is to keep as many youths out of the court system as possible.

If they deny it they will go to court and might get a bit more than that.

It depends whats on their record already. :?
