little chickadee
I was just about to place an order, but they don't deliver here However, waitrose does. How does that differ? Just higher delivery prices?
Tiggy
I have a Tesco credit card so earn points without having to shop there we have saved them up for the last 18month & got 4x the value & booked an all inclusive holiday for free - thanks Mr Tesco & you didn't get any of my money
Goosey Lucy
Tiggy said I have a Tesco credit card so earn points without having to shop there Ditto! Hubby puts all his work expenses and flights on it too. I can't remember when I last shopped in Tesco.
BarbaraJ
Im converted! A very nice man brought my shopping into the kitchen for me about 15 mins into my allotted time spot. I had a text this afternoon to let me know they could fill all my order and to remind me what time they were comming. Everything was perfect and all there. And I got a voucher for a 12 quid bottle of wine when I place my next order Should have done this years ago! Ill still do Aldi on the way home from work and get my meat from the farm in bulk but will be doing this every week now. Its BRILLIANT! (And my house is clean in the time I would have spent at the Supermarket.) did you get the wine voucher because it was your first order? just wondered as mine was my first too and i got nothing

Yes I was wondering that. Does Egluntine (Sheffield) get an order, or just shop at Waitrose? I was disappointed to be out of the delivery area. Jules.
I've just registered with Ocado & I am pleasantly surprised at their prices. Yesterday I bought 6 pints of semi-skimmed milk from Somerfield & was amazed at its cost, so I compared with Ocado & there's no real difference. I am going to have a look on "hot deals" for Ocado money off vouchers & give them a go.
missuscluck
With regards to the wine voucher. It just says 'free gift' It dosent specificaly say it is because it is my first order. At the top of the slip it says 'welcome to your first delivery with Ocado' so I guess it could be.
Willow
I'm with Cinnamon I quite like supermarket shopping. My local Waitrose is lovely and I always bump into several people i know so a quick shop takes ages I try not to be in a hurry so it's a leisurely wander whilst I decide the next few days meals and chat to people. I used to do a late night swoop on the nearest large 24x7 tesco's for bulk items but after deciding to cut down on tesco for ethical reasons I don't miss those shopping trips at all - the shop is too big and in 15? years shopping there I only ever bumped into 2 people I knew (the lovely lady who bought our first flat and a disliked ex-colleague). Combination of local shop and good food wins over cost.

My driver this evening told me that they are openinga depot in Leeds in the next few weeks so you may get deliveries in Sheffield soon. Until now they have been delivering to the Leeds area from Manchester!!!
Guest
I have been reading this with interest. We have a Waitrose quite close to us, although it is out of my way to visit. I have been on several occasions and love shopping there it is very clean, friendly and spacious, but horrendously more expensive than other supermarkets. I have seen a few of you have compared prices so I thought I would have a go and have just put my last months shopping on MySupermarket to compare prices I do a big shop once a month, online, for staples and if any offers catch my eye. I have just compared the price of this and Asda was £58.54, Tesco was £64.73, Sainsburys was £69.97 and Ocado was £74.89 None of the things on the list would be any better quality at a particular super market as they are all things like butter, milk, flour, tins of beans, toms etc An online shop saves me having to trawl the supermarket and queue and as the order is mostly the same every month, it takes minutes to do My office is a stones throw from Asda and anything I run short of I can get before I go to work (Asda is very quiet at 7:45 am) and keep it in the fridge, if needed, at work I have found a lovely farm shop a couple of miles from our house, so meat and veg are got from there. With such a big difference in prices and as we are on a huge economy drive at home at the moment I think I will have to stick with Asda Waitrose will remain a treat, once in a while
abwsco
I know this is an oldish thread but just thought I'd add to it as I had my first Ocado delivery yesterday. I found the whole experience really easy and particularly liked the fact that I could add edit the order up to the night before. We've just had some lovely UK free range sausages for lunch and are having UK organic roast beef tonight I don't think I've spent anymore than I would have done at Sainsburys etc plus the quality of the fruit and veg is superb. I didn't get a voucher for free wine though but had had one for 15% off my shop emailed to me. I think that was probably as I'd registered but not shopped with them. Paola
I have had 2 Ocado deliveries this week I do not find it any more expensive then Tesco I will prob be sticking with them from now on
Guest
I have to say that online checker is deciptive. My fave mango's are on special in Waitrose and are HALF THE PRICE of other supermarkets but because Ocado dont' sell loose products they are more expnsive. Also having in recent weeks had Mango's from tesco, asda and waitrose I've found that the Waitrose ones are just much, much nicer. But then again I guess mangos are not something the cheaper supermarkets feel they need to be competitive on. As most of my basket contains fresh fruit and veg plus I like to choose different cheeses from the deli counter then there really isn't any alternative to Waitrose. Last time I tried to get any sort of service on cheese in Tesco I was met by blank indifference from the staff.
abwsco
Well the roast beef which cost £8.50 has served 5 of us - all classed as adults as the teenagers eat as much as us - and was delicious as was the veg and all the fruit afterwards. There's also enough beef left over for at least 2 of us to eat cold. I know where I'm going to be doing my shopping from now on apart from the toiletries which I buy from Home Bargains as their prices can't be beaten. Krysia
We have used Ocadp a couple of times, I quite like supermarket shopping anyway so don;t internet shop as a rule but when we are watching money its great, you can see the total and put stuff back without embarassment if you know you habve gone over board! I agree with all Ocado fans the fruit and veg is fantastic butI think its bacause its direct from the warehouse not transported to a shop then thrown around, squeezed by millions then dropped a few times before it finally goes to your kitchen. whenever we do or on line shopping its always ocado for me! AND they collect their carrier bags!
The Dogmother
I remain delighted with them - their fresh produce is always the best quality and lasts far longer than any bought from other supermarkets. I normally take the bags from the chap at the door and hand back the old bags, but being incapacitated last week, the lovely man offered to carry them through, lifted them up onto the side for me and told me to go and put my feet up... he didn't do the ironing though
Ms Marple
I love Ocado too. I use my supermarket to compare prices and invariably Ocado wins. Always on time, often early, but with excellent communications. Excellent quality and money off vouchers regularly by email. I seem to remember that when Jamie Oliver did his chickens programme earlier this year, Waitrose came out as having the best policy re chicken welfare etc. Only sell free range eggs - not that you all need those anyway - but we are still waiting!
