Trish
Just to tell you not to worry if I'm a bit sporadic with visiting the forum for the next couple of months. We're getting builders in!!!! We decided on a loft conversion and duly asked soemone in for a quote, two weeks ago. We accepted the quote and they came to do the full measuring last Friday. We had a call on Monday to say that they might have a slot in two weeks time but that July was more likely, seemed quick to me even at July, normally builders are booked up for minths. We've just had a call tonight to say would it be alright if they delivered stuff tomorrow night and start work on Thursday!!! It's quite a big job, two bedrooms and a shower room and they've got the right team free now!! I'm in shock, glad it's happening but in shock. Poor hubby is going to have to go in the loft tomorrow night and get it cleared, mayhem for the next 6 weeks and poor eldest starts his GCSE's in two weeks. Hey ho good job brother in law lives over the road I think
Chicken on a mission
Well all I can say is good luck. I don't envy you. Having an extension was bad enough but builders in your home
Trish
in it, up it and out through the roof. Should be worth it though, we went and saw a job the did in a similar house, literally just over the road. It look great and the extra space is very needed with three teenage boys

Cate in NZ
Good luck Trish. I'm sure the builders and building work will soon start to take over your lives, there'll be dust and chaos everywhere..... but it really will all be worth it at the end. You could probably do with borrowing Sheila's super-sized tea-pot too if my builders were typical of the species..... a little work, a lot of tea Do please let us all know how it goes Oh, yes, I noticed the new avatar too, very nice, but I will miss the knitting Chicken Run hen (forgot the name)

Chicken on a mission
Here is some light relief for when you get fed up with the progress of the loft extension. Just don't show it to the builders There is a dangerous virus being passed electronically, orally and by hand. This virus is called Worm-Overload-Recreational-Killer (WORK). If you receive WORK from any of your colleagues, your boss or anyone else via any means - DO NOT TOUCH IT. This virus will wipe out your private life completely. If you should come into contact with WORK put your jacket on and take 2 good friends to the nearest pub. Purchase the antidote known as Work-Isolator-Neutralizer-Extractor (WINE). The quickest acting WINE type is called Swift-Hitting-Infiltrator-Remover-All-Zones SHIRAZ). Take the antidote repeatedly until WORK has been completely eliminated from your system. Forward this warning to 5 friends. If you do not have 5 friends you have already been infected and WORK is controlling your life. Update: After extensive testing it has been concluded that Best-Equivalent-Extractor-Remedy (BEER) may be substituted for WINE but may require a more generous application. Popcorn
Mind you they do deserve Oscars for best dramtic performance Ar-yes.....where it affects their vocal chords too and it turns them into a kind of whimpering, drooling, whispering weakling and their legs don't work properly and thier eyes are half shut....and their heads roll back.... Bless them! Buckets must mean business though

Nicola H
Trish I hope the boys get better soon........................ chocchick
we could all do with the pattern for the little hats for the winter months, no more frost bitten combs............ It doesn't actually cover the comb, seems to be more of fashion statement worthy of Trinny and Susannah (the chickens) It's v BTW I thought your kids were bedridden with "WORK" for a minute must be the exam stress. Hope building goes well.
