I've rescued plenty, but they've all gone to other homes

 

I just don't have the room, but love helping out at rescues.

The answer is yes but it is a great shame that the area you require people from is London and the home countries.

What about all of us that live North of Watford don't we matter!

We are from Preesall which is between Blackpool & Lancaster tell them to get the A to Z of the UK to look that up.

We heard of a battery farm in Penrith, Cumbria that was closing down and getting ride of all their hens so we jumped in the Volvo estate and drove up there and paid £1 per bird we got 6 but one died through illness and she was sorted out by our local vets.

When we hear how many hens were at the farm we contacted The BHWT and told them about the farm. Adele Hall from BHWT contact them and managed to rescue almost 500 birds.(adele.hall@bhwt.org.uk)

So in our little way we had helped the hens, the farmer, the rescue people and the new owners of the hens.

So nice to know we had done our little bit to help.

I have 3 ex batts in my little flock and I'm a family (although not the usual one!). Out in Essex though.

 

Oh and I've also "freecycled" a chicken!

It's usually down to the editor not being prepared to pay expenses for the reporter to go far unless it features a celebrity

indeed - and very sensible too... (and we don't know what paper this is) - why add many many un-necessary miles to report a part of a story that could easily be researched and covered much closer to where the reporter is... makes sound economic and environmental sense..

 

Egluntine and Karen - seriously - if you want to be in the paper, it's very easy. Most local papers and local hacks are desperate for local interest stories - especially if you hand it to them on a plate. At our church we find that almost anything we send them - especially if it is written for them! - gets included. And if there is anything remotely photogenic, their photographer will be round.

 

especially today - because it also links into a "national" story - HFW and his tesco campaign.

 

if you contacted them today - and got to know your local reporters - they'd be all over you like a rash.....

 

even Northerners can be famous (I am one) - and I DO wear a flat cap - and I have a very large whippet (err... greyhound)

we have a couple of consecutive big rescues coming up in July - the bloke in Norfolk is clearing out completely I think - there are about 3000 birds to re-home..

 

it's a joint effort with the Norfolk crewe, I think we're doing about 1000.

 

You're always missed when the team gathers (and not just for your cakes). I'll pass your greetings on to the members of the team who aren't already on here,
