It's so wet here that I've had to

Recommended Posts

bring the chickens into the kitchen to dry out

It's rained "stottin" (as my friend from the North-East says) all afternoon, so much that our drains are threatening to overflow.

As my run isn't ready yet the girls have been sheltering under the cube, and where they make their dustbaths they are standing in at least 5cm of water.

Trying to catch Rosa was hilarious to anyone watching me, she wasn't for catching, but in she came, last of all.

I've put the heating on for them, so the kitchen's getting lovely & toasty, & here they are

Hi ya Butty, congrats on your chooks & welcome to the forum.

We used to let ours out around 7am. But at the moment have been leaving the eglu door open as summertime and we go away the odd night. We wanted to let them come out when they want to and so far they have been really good, no noises or anything.

It finally stopped raining about 9pm, & as the girls had dried out & the water level had gone down I popped them back in their part of the garden. They then stuffed their faces with pellets & went to bed, all cosy & dry :D

My retro leak kit works a treat, not a drop of water found its way into the nest box or roosting area

Jules, i was just looking through your gallery, love the pic of them by the christmas tree 8)

Just wondered, do you let them in a lot, do they make a right mess on carpets, etc? One of ours snuck into the dining room the over day and i felt such a meany having to put her back out :(
