hils78
I've got a busy day ahead with viewing 2 houses. The one I am REALLY interested in has 6 acres alot of that is woodland which is really exciting. We can only just afford it by the skin of our teeth but will move heaven & earth to get it (she says not having actually seen it yet!). I'm already filling the paddocks with different flocks of chooks. The other house is more realistic 1930's semi with a little bit extra garden attached that was lived in by 2 old ladies for years & hasn't been 'changing room'd'. Its got a mini orchard apparantly - but I'm guessing a couple of fruit trees!
Cooks
good luck with it, I prefer the first one (having seen the pics ) although in todays money situation with mortgages etc, dont stretch yourself if you cant manage an increase (should it arise) that would be horrible. Let us know how it goes, and we can fill the land for you.. edited to add have only seen pics of the first funny how that 6 acres just spoke to me.. Egluntyne
Good luck. Where are the pics?
Jules.
Maybe the 1930s orchard is bigger than you think when you get there? My parents garden backs onto a house which has an orchard, & this house has 1/2 acre in total, which is lots of room to breathe in , but is still manageable IUSWIM. They have geese in it, & have done for 30 odd years (but not the same geese )

Cate in NZ
Good luck with it . All too often house hunting can be disappionting as Estate Agents can get a bit carried away with their descriptions, but your 2 houses sound lovely and I really hope that they don't disappoint. Guest
Good luck. Where are the pics? remember to get the owner's agreement to post the pics on the forum, breach of privacy and all that! enjoy your day, love the sound of having 6 acres, wow! Egluntyne
Given that the house is up for sale and in the hands of an estate agent, and photos are online, it is clear that the owner's agreement has been given. They want to sell the house after all.

baby bears mum
How fabulous. I hope you get it and it works out for you. It sounds wonderful. By the way just how many chookies can you get in that barn (you may need a bigger mortgage to get the chookies).

Lesley
ooooh...fingers crossed for you! (BTW is the evening course so you can get a highly paid job to pay for the new house?) Perhaps it's a sheep keeping course? I hope you get the house. We had to offer full price for ours as well, and there were five others in the queue behind us waiting to see if the sale fell through Smallholdings are still increasing in value at the moment. hils78
You lot are funny! When I was 20 & houses were VERY cheap & I was playing in a band earning I managed to buy this house 'nearly' outright. Its now paid off. I'm only a vet nurse p/t. The OH is in a similar situation to me but he has a fantastic job as a concept artist (has to draw things like unicorn foals all day long ) but is on a good wage too. The house is quite cheap really for all you get £250k. We don't actually live together in the same town yet so it would be amazing to get this house as our first home together. We wouldn't move again! I'll try & find the details.
