Jules.
I've got it It works Needs a BIG clean Is a KM 200, so more modern than my A901, but my attachments will fit it. It came with a whisk, k-beater & a twisted k-beater- anyone know what the twisted k-beater is used for? Oh, & some instructions too

Blackrocksrock
Is the twisted one not a dough hook?
The Dogmother
Sounds like it could be, although I wouldn't describe it as a twisted k beater - it just looks like a hook.
Egluntyne
Is this your twisted beater? If yes......it's a dough hook.
Snowy
Aren't some of the more recent K beaters slightly twisted? Maybe one is just a more recent version

Fleur
I love my kenwood mixer, it's one of the nice old heavy ones, but smaller than usual so ideal for me, it came from the local tip so almost as good as freecycle! hope your mum liked it
JM
I've now got my Mum's Kenwood. She must have got it in the mid 60's - so I reckon it must be pushing 40 years old - and it's still going strong.
missuscluck
Mine is a 1970 ish one. I have a dough hook like Egluntine's and a k beater and a whisk with mine. It makes the best cakes EVER! I love it and use it lots for cakes and pastry.
Jules.
It is definitely a twisted k-beater- I have a dough hook for my chef. I have seen them on ebay, I presume she uses it as a normal k-beater. Mum's cleaned it up today, & it's cleaned up a treat She's really made up with it, & so am I . I just need Rosa to start laying so that I can have a glut of eggs to pass on to mum.
The Dogmother
Mine's one of the big old ones, must be c40YO and still going strong. I've only had it serviced once and they just replaced the flex, which was a bit dodgy.
Egluntyne
I've had mine since 1980. We paid about £30 quid for it, which seemed a fortune at the time. Some of the attachments that came with it have never been out of their boxes.
..lay a little egg for me
I've now got my Mum's Kenwood. She must have got it in the mid 60's - so I reckon it must be pushing 40 years old - and it's still going strong. I inherited my Mum's one, but I managed to burn the motor out within a few months...I was making a cake and had s"Ooops, word censored!"ed off the creamed sugar/butter mixture from the K-beater and must have loosened it in the socket without realizing it. I left it mixing while I went to get the eggs and the K-beater dropped into the bowl and jammed, of course since I was not there the motor tried to keep going and burnt itself out. Rushed back to the smell of burning but too late . However, I bought a 'new' one on e-Bay (same model and everything) for £30 and then sold the old one on e-Bay for spares/repair fpor £15, keeping the best of the attachments from the two, so was quite pleased about that. Moral of the story is...be very careful to ensure the attachments are firmly in place/don't leave it mixing unattended. Oh, and I bought a splash-guard for it, which is great as before I had to wrap a tea-towel around the top to stop the flour jumping out of the bowl when using it to make pastry! I don't know if it is just my machine, but the lowest speed is just too fast and the flour tends to leap out of the bowl...do I need to adjust something or is everyone's like that? Snowy
Mines the same LALEFM. I also use a tea towel - must invest in a splash guard
Snowy
By the way, has anyone got the older style 701 machine? I bought a mincer off ebay for 99p but my machine is a 901 so it won't fit. If anyone wants it, they are welcome.
..lay a little egg for me
Oooh, yes please! I do have the A901 and I fondly remember my Mum mincing the left over sunday roast to make shepherd's pie and have had it in mind for a while to get a mincer...! I got the splash guard that has a lift-up section so you can add stuff while the mixer is going...it was £10 on eBay.
