Kenwood chef being offered on my local freecycle

Recommended Posts

I've got it :D

It works

Needs a BIG clean :o

Is a KM 200, so more modern than my A901, but my attachments will fit it.

It came with a whisk, k-beater & a twisted k-beater- anyone know what the twisted k-beater is used for?

Oh, & some instructions too

It is definitely a twisted k-beater- I have a dough hook for my chef. I have seen them on ebay, I presume she uses it as a normal k-beater.

Mum's cleaned it up today, & it's cleaned up a treat :D

She's really made up with it, & so am I .

I just need Rosa to start laying so that I can have a glut of eggs to pass on to mum.

I've now got my Mum's Kenwood. She must have got it in the mid 60's - so I reckon it must be pushing 40 years old - and it's still going strong. :D

I inherited my Mum's one, but :oops: I managed to burn the motor out within a few months...I was making a cake and had s"Ooops, word censored!"ed off the creamed sugar/butter mixture from the K-beater and must have loosened it in the socket without realizing it. I left it mixing while I went to get the eggs and the K-beater dropped into the bowl and jammed, of course since I was not there the motor tried to keep going and burnt itself out. Rushed back to the smell of burning but too late  .

However, I bought a 'new' one on e-Bay (same model and everything) for £30 and then sold the old one on e-Bay for spares/repair fpor £15, keeping the best of the attachments from the two, so was quite pleased about that.

Moral of the story is...be very careful to ensure the attachments are firmly in place/don't leave it mixing unattended.

Oh, and I bought a splash-guard for it, which is great as before I had to wrap a tea-towel around the top to stop the flour jumping out of the bowl when using it to make pastry! I don't know if it is just my machine, but the lowest speed is just too fast and the flour tends to leap out of the bowl...do I need to adjust something or is everyone's like that?
