Patriotism is all well & good,but it has been hijacked by a certain type of person who (on the whole) makes me not very proud to be a Brit

This may be a sweeping generalisation,but I cannot bear to see that flag on cars full of football shirt wearing chavs who have ne real love of the country,but are just following the herd.

Mind you it is little England where I actually live so I am sure I will see a couple no doubt

I was just trying to make the point (in my wine fuelled state last night) that its a different sort of patriotism we have now to ,say,when WW2 ended.

There just often seems to be a yobbish element to it,& that is such a shame

Whilst "Ooops, word censored!"ody wants to be accused of making generalisations, we all make them based on our own personal experiences and no amout of political correctness will change that. Political correctness just surpresses this behaviour because we get afraid that we'll be shot down in flames for expressing it.

 

Generalisations are exactly what life is about, learning from your previous experience.

 

I WILL still be a more cautious driver if I see a boy racer styled car. It is a generalisation and doesn't mean that that driver will definitely reflect the experiences I have had in my life of boy racers but it is more likely and pays to be careful and cut risk.

 

The fact that the England flag joke is so funny is that it is a generalisation that reflects what many think.

The thing that annoys me is the litter caused by all of the broken flags up and down the motorway network that have snapped off at speed.

 

 

if people want to display their patriotism by decorating the motorway-tarmac-surface and the hard-shoulder with patriotic flags - then who is this looney-left p-c brigade who would want to stop them.. it's political correctness gone mad!! freedom for the patriotic motorway surface decorators!!!
