Becka
Any suggestions? It must be able to cope with DIY dust etc. I seem to be the kiss of death for hoovers. We've 'killed' five over the past year and a half, so far an Animal Dyson and four Mieles of various specs. I'm very careful to pick up any obvious debris but the dust from the carpets seem to be just a step too far! The heating engineer had a wee hoovery sort of box that was black and yellow which he used to pick up debris but I forgot to ask him what it was. My husband has the sander out, yet again, and I just know I'm going to be left hooverless soon. Suggestions gratefully anticipated! Aligod
Henry! I've had mine for 14 years and it is stall as good as the first day I bought it!
Egluntyne
You need a Roomba.
Yolky
Another vote for Henry. Had two dysons that died pretty quickly, wouldn't buy them again.
Aligod
What's a Roomba? Henry has been in the family through sanding floors, taking out old fire places and putting in new ones and through the bulding of an extension, and my chimney sweep also has one!! Cinnamon
I've got a Roomba, but John Lewis recommend a Sebo, which I also have,& is very tough & does a great job. Its the only hoover where you can change all the internal filters. If its proper rubble you need to pick up,then you need a builders grade one like Hubby has got.Its black & yellow, but I can't remeber the make
Becka
I'd love a Roomba but I think it might program itself to find the quickest exit from the house! I'll wait until all the work has been completed and then buy one. Looks like the Henry comes pretty well recommended. Thanks for the quick replies. Aligod
I love my Henry, when the kids were small it used to live in the cupboard under the stairs and every time I walked past I would tap the door and say helo Henry!! My kids still remember this and said they thought I had someone living in there!!
Geoid
I have henry's older tougher brother, George! Its really powerful and it is a wet and dry vac too.
Becka
George sounds interesting! Is the wet function efficient? I had a Bissell as few years ago and found it rather useless but that could be put down to user incompetence! Becka
pepe
Henry gets my vote! Had a Dyson, parts broke so went back to a Henry If you have space maybe you could get a secondhand Henry, just to deal with the extra mucky jobs!!
Paola
Henry! I've had mine for 14 years and it is stall as good as the first day I bought it! OH swears by his one that he has at work Another Henry vote

kannie
We have a Henry too: it was recommended by a cleaner we used to have. She said she'd used all sorts and Henrys were best. I've seen them used them in offices too, so they're pretty durable.
chelsea
I dont get on with Henry's at all im afraid we self cater a lot (in cottages/log cabins etc) and over the years the majority of hoovers in self catering properties are in fact Henrys, I dont think they are very good if you have a pet that sheds 365 days a year! Nothing sucks pet hair like a Dyson IMO, they are so heavy though.
