Olly
Trouble is, some people find Prudence a bit boring. She's always been a good friend to me, but it seems there are those who don't want to get to know her (or her sister Patience). I blame the parents! When I used to say 'I want ...' it was usually met with the retort 'Those who want don't get'! Unfortunately some people put 'I want' before 'I need' and even worse, before 'They need ...' The Dogmother
Prudence is my best friend and has talked me out of many a potential s"Ooops, word censored!"e. All good things come to those who wait; make plans and be prepared to put them to on side if Prudence warns you that now is not the right time. craftyhunnypie
Prudence & Patience tend not to be my friends. I can't wait & I must have! Guest
I can't see Prudence anywhere. I'm actually now in a fowl mood. sic totally lost me here... is this some kind of a cryptic moan about individuals posting on the Forum? if so - is this really the best way to deal with it? if not - then what on earth IS this about? Cinnamon
I'm taking my mods hat off here for a moment *puts it carefully to one side so as not to crush the flowers* and putting my neck on the line, but I feel that I have to say something on this subject. I am concerned about the amount of hatching/breeding and buying of livestock that is going on without any forethought. Both on this forum and on others. Are we sitting comfortably? This may take a while to explain.... Caring for animals is a tremendous responsibility and certainly not to be undertaken lightly. Now, I'm not casting any nasturtiums here, but it leads onto my favourite rant about 'prudence'; no, not a person , but the word. What I'm trying to say here, and not expressing very well is that we live in a 'can do/can have' society now - we have so much within our reach that we have forgotten to think before we buy/do something to decide whether or not it is prudent to do so. For example; I'd love to have another lurcher, and an acquaintance has some gorgeous puppies that need a home. OK, I could get one tomorrow but it simply wouldn't be prudent, let alone fair to the pup. I work a 40 hour week, am a single parent with very little spare time.... you with me on this? So while impulse buys of henorabilia or chickenalia are fine (at least until OH sees them ) please think twice before making an impulse buy of a critter, hatching chickies or breeding bunnies. Just because we can doesn't mean to say that it is prudent to do so. Sorry for the rant chaps *puts mods hat back on at it's usual rakish angle* There you go Phil - we can't have you all confused, can we? I could smell the burning from here

Guest
There you go Phil - we can't have you all confused, can we? I could smell the burning from here yes - i remember that thread - but is it a complaint that "Ooops, word censored!"ody is posting on that thread anymore - or a moan about something someone is posting - not sure your quoting makes it any clearer what on earth bronze is on about... Guest
The original reason for the this thread has fizzled out, so the whole thing is probably best left now. hmm - if you say so - but given you asked pretty much the same question as me 4th post in, I don't think it's unreasonable of me to ask.. and if it is not something that should be shared on the forum - then that's why i questioned the thread in the first place. if it is an in-joke then this isn't the place - and if it is a sideways dig at another poster somewhere else - then this also is surely not the place? phil
Egluntyne
You are way off with both your guesses. It is neither a side ways dig, nor an in joke. As a regular poster and reader of posts, I worked it out for myself. There was a slight misunderstanding elsewhere, which was cleared up. That's all. I'm obviously a bit of a thicko.. cinnamon's quoting seemed to suggest it was about what claret posted - which was a word of caution about hatching - prompted by the things that were being posted on this forum so - maybe you spotted something cinammon didn't - either way, you'll have to spell it out for us total numpties. (or, better, bronze, who I was asking.) Phil
Egluntyne
As I said before, imho it is best left. By referring back there is a danger that other forum members might be made to feel uncomfortable, which would be a shame.

JamesH
if it is likely to make other forum members uncomfortable for us to know what this thread is about - then this is not the place for it.. I'm sure Prudence would agree.
craftyhunnypie
I'm not prudent with my hatching. A lot of time, thought, love, care & caution goes into it. I always think about the cockerel situation. I now have 2 cockerels - Bumble from my first hatch (cobar) - you should see him now he is so big, soppy & quite clumsy (he trips over his feet). I also have spongebob my frizzle bantam cockerel. Both are absolutely loved to bits. I also have lavender Araucanas due next Tuesday/Wednesday. I think 4 possibly 5 out of 6 eggs are fertile - so I just wonder how many cockerels I'll get this time. I hope for at least 1, so I can breed in the future. I'm lucky to be able to keep cockerels & for your info - I don't live in the countryside! But then again I don't live in the town either. I suppose it's on the edge of the countryside / small industrial area. So noises from cockerels are far nicer than industrial noise any day! But I must admit that my cockerels are both quiet. Bumble does about 6 crows a day - that's it & Spongebob, well his crow is more like a sort of puppy whimper. I even doubt if he is a she! Patience is a hard one - I hate waiting for eggs to hatch, I hate waiting for nice things to arrive by post, I hate waiting for speciasl events & days out etc etc. Emma.x
